Welcome Kevin! I'm late to the show. Looking forward to meeting you at Third Coast. It's one helluva party, and a 928 is NOT required! lol.

Your thread reminds me of thrashing to get my 87 S4 ready for the first 3rd coast I went to back in 2006. I bought the car in April of 2006, and in August of 2006, I was knee deep in a complete timing belt R&R, a manifold R&R, torque tube change out, etc., etc.

I can't believe I have been attending this event for going on 9 years!

Dan87951, I am not sure how long it was for sale, say it in a no reserve auction on eBay in Seattle area in March, threw a pretty low number at it, went to bed and voila, woke up the next day the owner!

Killav, can always drive my 1970 Chevy 4x4 over (my 19 yr old daughters DD, see below) but am going to do everything possible to get Marlene done and at 3rd Coast!

Kevin I think you and I will get along just fine, my first vehicle when I was 16, was a 1968 GMC 1/2 ton pick up, with a 383 stroker, Holley 750 double pumper, Lunati cam, "461" casting fully ported and polished heads with 2.02/1.6 valves, 10.5 compression, roller rockers, Manley pistons, TH-350 trans with 2500 stall, and 3:73 posi-trac rear end. Can't believe I can still remember all of that!! My dad was/is a hot rodder through and through. I was lucky to get a hot rod like that at that age.

Miller Powder Coating, Lilburn, GA they do a lot of car and motorcycle parts. The more you can in regards to prep the better things go. Definitely make sure any parts are de-greased as good as possible. Good luck and maybe see you at one of RichVM gatherings

What steering wheel is that? I am going nuts looking for one!

Beautiful car! Burgundy colored interiors have been a favorite of mine since my Dad's '85 he brought home on Day One.

Mongo, it's a MoMo wheel, have always been a fan of the burgundy interiors. Interior will be this winter, have the sport seats nd picked up a pair of comfort seats as well to use while the sports are being recovered along with new carpet and she will be done. Then it's time to enjoy her!

Will see if I can find a part number on the back of it, pulling it this weekend to install a new combo switch, so perfect timing!

ThIngs are quickly coming together, Bill finished up the top end refresh today and she fired up first time! Definitely a sigh of relief on my end and a testament to Bills knowledge and skill with these machines!! Next TT bearings and power steering rack and she will be ready to head west!!

Kevin, It was nice meeting you on Saturday.
Looking forward to seeing your car when it's completed.
You've really jumped into this with both feet - Impressive!
Very refreshing to see someone tackle everything at once.
Gonna be a great car to just drive and enjoy when you're done.
I'd love to make that two day run with you over to 3rd coast.
(and any excuse to hit Nawlins - one of my favorite places).
But it's just not in the cards for me right now...
Keep those updates and pics coming!

Time for TT bearings, it still amazes me the way these things were designed. to be able to drop the TT, trans and rear suspension as a unit is pretty crazy! Never would have attempted this in the 70 Chevy!

Top end almost complete, the powder coating turned out great!
