Default Autocross at OktoberFast PCA Races/Sharks at Daytona; Sat. Oct 25th

Autocross at the OktoberFast PCA Races at Daytona/Sharks at Daytona, Saturday October 25th

What: German Excellence Autocross during the OktoberFast PCA Races. aka Sharks at Daytona Gathering.

Where: Daytona International Speedway's Infield Go-Kart Track.

When: Saturday, October 25th. All day event, with a break for lunch(included).

Cost: $35 at the event, $5 discount for pre-registering.

Ok, Florida 928ers and any others within driving distance. You may have attended one of the Sharks at Daytona gatherings in years past during the OktoberFast PCA Races at Daytona International Speedway. This year, the Autocross event has been revived and is set for Saturday October 25th. While not an official revival of Sharks at Daytona, this is an opportunity for us to gather again, and participate in the Autocross as a group.

We've always had good recognition by all for our enthusiastic 928 attendance at both our Sharks at Daytona during OktoberFast, and our Sebring Shark Shiver during the 48 Hours of Sebring PCA races. We had a group participate at an autocross at Sebring one year & much fun was had by all. I've been somewhat "called out" to drum some 928 participation, since our 928 group absence the past two years from the OktoberFast weekend has apparently been noticed.

With pre-registration pay a mere $30 at the event, ($35 registration the day of the event), and you can participate in the German Excellence Autocross. This autocross is being held on the Speedway's infield Go-Kart track, inside of the raceway, not just cones on a parking lot. With the sights and sounds of the racers running on the world famous track, you could not have a better atmosphere to do an autocross in. A lunch break with a bag lunch is included. So you can also still drive on the Speedway during the VIP Track Touring session midday to add to your OktoberFast Daytona Speedway experience. After the event, we can gather at a nearby watering hole on International Drive and catch up.

More Autocross details and registration can be found on the Club Registration web site(link below). Registration is now open and filling up quickly, so don't delay. We need support for this Autocross event(run by Citrus PCA), and for the OktoberFast race weekend,(put on by Fla Crown PCA), and sponsored by Brumos Porsche.

Link to register at the Club Registration web site: https://clubregistration.net

Mel,

I'll be there Thursday through Sunday. Looking forward to seeing everyone again as we start the Daytona/Sebring race season.

If anyone is looking for hotel accommodations, I believe the Hilton Garden Inn is the host hotel for PCA that weekend. You must ask for the PCA rate ($99) when making the reservation.

Hope to see you there.

Look forward to seeing you there. How about rounding up some of the other Bay Area Sharkers & make it a caravan over!

Thought I'd bump Mel's thread in case there were a few 928 owners who at the last minute wanted to make it to Daytona this weekend for some fun! This event is really a good time to get together and there is always lots to see.

If you can make it, please come out and see some old friends and make a few new ones.

I dropped a note onto the Tampa 928 string a couple of weeks ago to try and dig up some interest without any response. My plan is to leave out of Tampa early Sat morn to make the 0830 registration. See you there

Look forward to seeing you Jere, and David K too. I think Jim & Chris might both try to make it too. Weather should be perfect. I see you did register in the AX Jere; it will be a treat to see your GTS navigate the go kart track on the infield of the raceway. They'll be no finer looking car on the track, even the GT3, Panamera, or Viper that have registered.

And Thanks to you both for helping to bring attention to the weekend's events. I can relate to your efforts to drum up some participation. I emailed almost 40 Fla Sharkers a few weeks ago & got more returned for bad email addresses than any actual replies. Wait, I did get one email reply of someone telling me they sold their 928! Oh well, I guess Autocrossing, VIP driving on the raceway, & PCA racing are not as popular among Fla 928ers right now. I certainly look forward to enjoying the event & representing our great cars. They always get good recognition at the PCA events at Daytona & Sebring.

Mel, I got a note that they've broken up the autoX into groups now and I'm running in the afternoon. My deadline for registration is 1:30, but I'm going to do the touring lap, so will probably be there by mid morning to sign in.

Yeah Jere, it was an overwhelming response, a max of 65 registered for the AX; so it had to be broken up into four groups. I'm running in the afternoon too, same group you are in. But I will be there early morning. Overall the AX field of entrants is very diverse. Our group has Boxsters(S); Caymans(S & Rs); couple 924Ss; a BMW; various 911s; a Panamera; and a GT3!
