Default Yet another numbie

Just got a white auto '84 with 66K. So far so good! I did have a few questions though if anyone can help.

1. Is it my imagination but is the outside passenger rear view mirror a few inches lower that the driver's outside rear view mirror?

2. I have the inflatable spare in the truck well but no way to inflate it. Can I just buy one of those small inflators that plug into the cigarette lighter or it is necessary to get the Porsche inflator kit?

3. As I will be driving this car almost daily, in all types of weather (except snow, I have a AWD car for that) I'm looking to get the unspeakable..... that's right, all-seasons! I had a Honda S2000 and had Pilot Sport A/S's on it, with winter tires for snow. Any body have any experience with A/S on a 928?

Thanks to everyone for any answers....

#3 - I don't know where your winter is, but you mention snow. If you're in a cold place with rain, snow and slop, I recommend dedicated snows. I have Michelin Pilot Alpins on one car and Blizzaks on another (not 928's, I admit) and it's amazing what an improvement over M&S's they are in cold and wet. You can always get summer tires for when it's above 45º at night.

As to #2, any inflator will work. The 30 year old tire, who knows.

I've never heard this to be the case. On mine it is not. Perhaps one of the Masters can confirm this.

On an 84 the pressure should be 32 psi. Any inflator should do.

Tires... you will get a multitude of responses...similar to asking which is the best motor oil...

Thanks to everyone for any answers....

Welcome.

The mirrors on my late '82 are both at the same height, with the bottom of the mirror glass approximately level with the bottom of the window glass opening. I've never seen mirrors at different levels.

Yes, our pass. side mirror is lower and closer to the body than the driver side, there was a post about that a while back.

Most people don't use the stock spare.

I have all season but don't drive in snow.

Welcome BTW

Welcome.

Any 12v compressor will work, but the tire is a huge question. There was a recent thread about what happened when someone tried to use it. The pics are rather disturbing.

I have ContiExtreme Contacts on my car. They work well in colder temps and on wet surfaces. Not super sticky on dry pavement, but I like going sideways.
If you're going to be driving in any sort of slop, I fully agree with dedicated snows.
Others will have different experiences, opinions and ideas. YMMV (your mileage may vary).

Otis is right, spellcheck is your friend.

Amd MainePorsche is right, post some pics. You don't need to be a paid member to post some pics, you're just limited in how many.

Add my vote for the Conti's- I'm on my second (third?) set of the Extreme DWS and they work quite well.
