I'd sell mine - and my 951 - if the right car came along. I can't imagine what that car would be, but it's possible.

I recently bought a 996GT3 Mk1 CS - the last road legal 911 to be handbuilt by the Motorsport bods in Weissach. It is car which was fettled by Manthey Racing at the Nurburgring and effectively it is a Cup car with the road going interior and panels.
Upon driving my first 50 miles in the GT3 I thought about selling my 8.5/10condition 928 GTS 5-spd. I bought it in 2012 for $16000 and now I can easily achieve $40,000. And then it dawned on me - what am I going to replace it with? To me, it still costs $16,000 - that kind of money will not make me richer or poorer. These $16,000 sitting in the bank do nothing for me, especially at 0.5% interest per annum. And $16,000 does not buy you a better car than the 928. All its peers in this price bracket are better at something - the XJS is more comfortable, the 850CSi has more gadgets, the E39 is quicker, the ///M 635CSi offers more interior space, the new 6-series is more sophisticared, the Jaguar XK is more classic looking. None of them, however, is good at everything just like the 928 is.
Hence it stays - what better way to compliment the **** slot mobile?

Already faced this bear, a very appealing car showed up a year or so ago on CL, domestic negotiations ensued and bottom line was 4 928's was not a practical option, one or two would need to go very very soon if not before purchasing. Car poofed before my act was together.
OTOH it did clarify my mind, so if it happened again I would not hesitate.
Its painful to realize the market value on a car you poured sweat and money into, but when you need to sell it doesn't change the price you get for a car. With that in mind I think I would be more focused on getting the car into good hands than price. I did that with my Mustang, and have few regrets.
