Jeesh...yet another new guy.
Hey everyone. It's the Patman here from Flower Mound Texas. I have a new car...it's red. Looks like this is the place to talk about new red cars. So...as any new guy should, I've joined, watched, learned, and then finally did a search on the subject of my own introduction before posting.
And now, after thorough searching, I've not found an introduction to myself anywhere. So I feel like it's OK to post one.
Grew up in Daytona with all the rights and privileges afforded to guys who grow up there. Been a mechanic all my life, and like many of us experiencing advancing years, I had to build my own first car. A lotus. (Daytona, remember?) Been a Euro car fan ever since.
Opened and owned a detail and accessory shop in Dallas called Bavarian Autowerke doing ...well...detailing and accessories on Euro cars for the public and local dealerships like Forest Lane Porsche Audi, John Roberts BMW, Point West Volvo...etc (this was some time back mind you).
I've lived in Germany, Holland, Tonga and...well, lots of places.
Done lots of racing, mainly motorcycles from Ducati to Hodaka and now am into the adventure bike thing. Until just recently wrote a monthly column for a motorsport mag in London. I also coverd some of the Red Bull events as they came through here, but today I just watch. (no time with that pesky job of mine) But cars have always been there. Lots of VAG stuff. Lots.
Worked for the government for some time doing...well anyway, today, I would say I get along OK with electronics stuff, computers, and surveillance equipment.
Currently and for the last 20 odd years I've been in the aerospace industry as a technician, then Director of aircraft Maintenance and today Vice President - Operations (that's why I have no time anymore).
I told Roger last night (in between him gloating over his new car...that he got from a junkyard) that I feel a bit out of place in this 928 crowd, as I'm usually the one designing and building parts and writing tech articles and how to stuff. But now, in this crowd, I'll sit quietly and let the adults talk!
OK. That's it. That's me.
Oh wait. You're also supposed to have something to offer when ya make a post. So I have a tip...I think. (yes I searched)
But Since it doesn't have anything to do with me introducing myself...looks like I'll have two posts on my first day!!

I thought I read amnion, which would be appropriate for someone just born into the 928 forum. Will find my magnifiers here, somehwere..... [/feels around blindly]
Welcome to the forum and +1 on car pitchers.
EDIT: Slow on the draw. Boy, that is Red. Noice!

Today all of the interior is out. Robert Budd has the job of making carpet and seats look sweet. and while it's apart, LEDs go in everywhere, well, everywhere that they will go.
Oh, and there's this red and silver thingie up front...
Seriously folks. Thanks for the welcome.

Patman, Welcome to the shark tank. Your new to you 28 looks fantabulous. If your interior does not show up on time, find yourself a spare seat and caravan down with the DFW crew for the upcoming 3rd Coast weekend. It's Fri, Nov 7-9. Sticky near top of home page. T

Welcome. It's a beautiful car. I'm impressed that it has the jump post cap & cover.
And, just to be clear, there is NOTHING "ordinary, average, everyday, run'o'the mill" about ANY 928. Even Roger's latest aquisition is an amazing and wonderful piece of automotive excellence (despite being delivered via forklift). Or at least it will be.

Tanks again for the welcomes. Actually the jump post cap and cover went missing a few weeks ago. Got the cover from Roger and used a bit of the fat red silicone vacuum hose to cover the jump post and of course it also makes sure I wont loose the cover again...ever. (I hope)

Hey, Patman, I'm the other guy who outed himself today. In addition to the 928 fetish, we also have adventure motorcycling in common (but I only took up motorcycling this year, madness at age 62). BMW G650GS.
We also have aircraft engines in common. My avatar in the P-9 Cayman forum is a GE90. The GEnx engine is going to use tech I developed - 25 years ago. It's a conservative business.
I'm not so into red as you, though. Wow, that's no ordinary car. Mine's black so I think I'll dress up the engine with black hoses - yeah, that would be cool.

Whoa! I may be new to 928's but not to Porsche, so I noticed an egregious error on your car: the Porsche crest on the wheels must point to the valve cap. If you've been getting funny looks, that's why.
