Sharktoberfest- NORCAL caravan to LA
I'd like to volunteer to lead a caravan from Norcal (aka Bay area) to Anaheim, CA for 928 International's 2014 Sharktoberfest.
I have already spoken to a few from the bay area and a few of you from SAC area about this.
Date- Friday, Oct 17 departing in the morning, 9 am from San Jose.
Meeting point will be at the Starbucks located next to the San Jose Airport on Newhall dr and Coleman Ave. This is just off 880 and Coleman Ave on the south side of the airport.

The route from bay area- Major highways but with a slight deviation- 101 south to hwy 198 to Coalinga, CA. this is 165 miles.
Hwy 198 is one of my favorite roads in the California, and is a nice departure from the crazy hwy 152. Travelling this distance down 101 instead also will reduce the amount of time we spend on boring Hwy 5 (with all the trucks).
Coalinga Starbucks will be the meeting place for those coming from central valley and from SAC or from further north, to join our group south.
Meeting place is the Starbucks located at the intersection of 198 and 33 (Jayne Ave off of hwy 5)

We can break here for lunch or keep going. With a 9 am departure fro SJ we should be here around 12 to 12:30pm.
The next stretch will be all down Hwy 5 from Coalinga, a distance of 225 miles. We would make one stop to stretch our legs before going up the grapevine.
Total trip distance is about 390 miles and should take 6.5 hours arriving at the hotel in Anaheim around 4-5pm, perhaps longer if we hit major traffic going thru LA.
There is no caravan planned for the drive back, you are on your own.

I might be able to travel down with you in a caravan if I don't have college classes over that weekend, which is what I hope for.

I can no longer lead this caravan due to work obligations. So I have asked Bill Ball to lead it and he accepted. I will attend but I will fly in again this year.

Now I can't make the caravan. My classes end at 11:15. I might be able to catch up by the grapevine, doubt it though.
