Default Trailer size to haul a 928

Anyone know what the minimum width/length open air trailer needed to haul an 82 928? I have access to a trailer but am unsure if the car will fit. I don't want to drive the hour and half to get the trailer only to find out it wont fit and I need to rent one from U-Haul.

Ramp height / angle are just as important. We took a friends trailer to twin cities to pick up an 85 a few years ago. No amount of lumber was going to help due to the height and ramp size of this trailer. We needed RaceRamps.

IMO, the $50 the U-Haul trailer costs I would just to that way.

A 928 should fit on a 16' open deck trailer. You'll have to be creative with attaching the straps. I have an enclosed 20' for work and that leaves about 2.5' on each end of a typical car.

I used a U-Haul to bring my car back across the country 2 years ago. It was about $500 or so, and worked perfectly. Standard auto trailer. If you want to borrow one, however, have the person measure at the narrowest points, as well as the length. you also need the weight rating for it, and what kind of pigtail it has for brake lights/turn signals. the car down the best, but you need the points for the straps on the trailer.

Ramp angle IS important. I have a 16' trailer that is WAY more than enough for the 928.

What about the width though? That is more what I am concerned with. I may just rent the u-haul trailer but funds are tight right now. I'm only moving 10ish or so miles down the road.

If you don't have rear wheels that are offset from stock the Uhaul car dolly also works well.

I wouldn't trust the tires to go around the block much less across town haha. Have to have a trailer for this one.

In addition to everything already mentioned here, have your friend measure the height of the fenders from the deck where the car will be sitting. You need to make sure you can get out of the car once you have it on the trailer, unless you're planning to crawl out the window and tow it with the windows down. There's probably not going to be a lot of extra width on a utility trailer to where you'll be able to get the door open enough to eek out. The door will need to clear the fender - the U-Haul Auto Transporters have a release so the fender on the driver's side can be folded down and then flipped back up.

Good luck with your trip !
