Same product I used on my 81 16V and that is holding up great. Product is rated for 300F. no primer. apply right on clean metal.

Worked on the car again after several weeks. Decided over those few weeks to pull the engine....main reason is becuase there is a stripped coolant drain bolt on the block, that I just cant leave buggered up. It came out with most of the block threads and now wont hold. So I need to timesert it. Easier with engine out.

And Im doing OPG and mounts also, and I wanted to check RMS as well.

got it all ready to lift out right now, but the engine hoist I have is too small and I need a longer reach one.

Now would be a excellent time to do a leak down test on that engine.

How much did the steam clean set you back? Never heard of such a thing being offered for cars -- it's a brilliant idea!

Why didn't I think of steam cleaning the undercarriage of my car?? I resorted to taking the entire car apart with much the same results.... yours looks great.

Looks Mo Beta
Much easier to work on a clean car!

Perhaps I should have my 88 steam cleaned.
Wonder where I could have it done near Monterey Bay?

I took out the motor last week. Came out real easy, straight up, without the hood. Used a 2 ton Torin Big Red Engine lift. then put it on my HF stand (4 wheel) using the Arnworx tools engine stand hardware kit (the easy way).

finally did a crank end play check, with the engine on the stand. I can lever the crank forward and back with a lever, and it measures out at .21mm. So I am good to go there. within spec! not bad for a car with over 155K miles

Hate to get the 'while we're in there' thing going, but how about doing head gaskets? I have everything I need to add boost to my '88 but I held off at the last minute as I think the head gaskets are original and might not take it. So, having skipped my head gaskets, I think I limited my options.
