Default AC Clutch Puller

I am trying to remove/replace the AC clutch on my 1984 928s. I have found the puller on page 87-31 of the service manual. It is apparently "AC Clutch Puller PNA 721-007" Where can I get one or is there an easy way to get the clutch off without breaking something? I have similar pullers from my motorcycle mechanic days. My system is charged and I have the replacement parts. I would like to avoid removing the compressor. Thanks for any suggestions.

It would nice to have a common 3 tang puller, or use a dedicated clutch screw type, but if you are only doing the job once you can get away with just using a thin bladed screw driver(s) and inserting it between the clutch face on the pulley and the clutch face on the outer hub; wedge in carefully and pry up, or you can use two wedges perse opposite each other. 9 times out of 10 the outer hub comes off easily.

Be aware of small 'shims' (look like small washers) that are used to set the "air gap"; typically they will be stuck in the bore on the underside of the outer hub or found resting on the step of the shaft.

Thanks. I'll try that.

It came right off. No problem. I thought the shaft was tapered. There were no shims however. I had to make shims to get the air space within tolerance. Thanks again for the heads up.

Not certain about the 84, but for the 85 you use a "MILLER TOOL C-4561 A/C COMPRESSOR HUB & DRIVE CLUTCH PLATE REMOVER"

on eBay? About $35.

The pulley bearing has 2 wiper seals incorporated into the bearing, presses in on both sides contacting the inner and outer race. If this is the 'seal' you noting then its time to simply replace the entire bearing assembly; just use an arbor press, support the shell of the pulley the bearing sits in so it does distort.
