Default Just finished a TON of work to the car... 3 mystery screws left. Damn it.

Just finished the following work to the car: Timing belt/water pump, PKTensioner, 928MS radiator, air pump delete, motor mounts, oil pan gasket, steering rack bushings, tie rod ends, K1 spring, trans filter/gasket.

Before anyone says anything, yes, I bagged and tagged everything as I went. For SOME reason, I set these screws into my little craftsman 1/4" driver box and forgot about them... sigh.

So I'm hoping they can be identified, since they look to be readily identifiable by someone with more experience than I. Two of them are the flat head machine thread screws. One is an socket head cap screw, machine thread as well. Anyways, on to the good stuff:

Allen bit looks like the door lock mounting screw to me. There are few aplications for flathead screws in a 928, and even fewer for allen headed. Couldnt you search on the PET PDF(free on porsche's web site HERE) for your year on the part description?

EDIT: My fault for missreading the first line!

Something like hold downs for the ignition wire braces, upper dipstick tube holder come to mind. Something small like that.

I might have just found one... looking at Pirtle's images, the socket head MIGHT be the one holding the tensioner wire. Since I used the PKTensioner, it's no longer used (probably why I didn't bag it.)

Yes to the tensioner wire fastener, and the two slotted machines look like they hold the timing marker to the water pump.

I found the other two! Victory! I win two prizes from... myself? EDIT: Looks like Chalkboss got it a few minutes before I did. Good job!

This also explains why they weren't bagged. I was starting to question my automotive discipline! Lesson learned: I need to keep a bag for bits that are 'No Longer Needed' so I don't go crazy trying to figure out where they should have gone. HA!

Chalk boss got it... took me too long to add the image. That was a quick solve. Nice work everyone.

Having broke 10 wp bolts I spent way too much time staring at that area!
