What make the 928 special for you?
For me, it's the driving position and the "touch points" - steering wheel, gear lever, switches and seats.

The fact that if the engine carks , the value is reduced to the sum of its remaining parts. There is no ready market for knackered 928s down this way, they are rare as rocking horse doo doos.
That said , it is the cross training shoe to the running spike that is my old 911.
Does everything rather well and is tough as nails.

I love pure sports cars (see Lotus Elise) but for "regular" use, a GT class of car is the best to have.
Bottom line, the 928 is the best GT this side of some very expensive offerings from Ferrari and Aston Martin.

Ditto, and thanks for your avatar. I have been watching the Blu-Ray version of Grand Prix for the last couple of nights, stretching it out. Saw it when it first came out, have seen it scores of times since. What a great guy! And what a hell of a cameo cast, many of which I got to see once at Laquna Seca. (Graham Hill- had I been cooler I would have learned so much about picking up lovely women...) Sorry for the highjack, just had a case of the bound-to's....

Driving position (not bending my knees much), the sense of occasion and the understated elegance.
I drove for 6 hours, non-stop, to take her down to see Greg. I've never driven any car for that long, but I arrived relaxed, even with LA traffic.

It was the Porsche that basically introduced me to the marque. It was one of the first cars I ever drove, and it was the first car to introduce me to track days. For me, it checks many, many blocks.

It's a great road car for long trips, very comfortable! You can drive across this country, and never see another 928. They really are sorta rare.
I've always liked the way it looks, it's timeless, like my Pantera!

I also own a 1962 Mini, it and the 928 are the same....Clean sheet design, not a spin off of another car. Optimum packaging for their purpose. Both my Mini and 928 are of the first generation, in the purest form. There hasn't been a car to surpass either of these Icons. Consider the Mercedes Benz SLS, Alloy engine, Check. Transaxle, Check. only 30 years late....

It is my first car and has never let me down, aside from a bad starter.
It is fun as all hell to drive.
As Randy said, chicks dig it.
And it has taught me how to work on cars as this is the first real project car I have been able to work on.
Also the added side affect of them being tough is a plus, I got hit by a bus and only got superficial damage. So she still rolls on .

In my world, chicks only pretend to dig it.
For me, when 19 years ago I began shopping for one, the reasons still hold today:
1) Rarity
2) Style
3) Competency (as a GT should be)
4) Comfort
