Bad start to the morning, car back on road only 2 days... (pics)
Well,
I was very happy to be driving my car now for the second day after a motor tear down (light tear down) and re-seal... Well, after running the stadium bleachers this morning with my fiancé we were cut off on the way home from an guy in a beat up Chevy Sonoma who then fled the scene and I had to blow through an intersection to catch up. Once he say I wasn't messing around and my car was drivable he pulled over... Well, it looks like I will be taking the 993TT to Laguna for the Monterey Historics this year in 4 weeks when my brother arrives from Atlanta... pretty upset about this one.
The powder coat on the wheels is only two days old and I am waiting on spacers for the rear GTS wheels to kick them out a bit... so save the comments as I know I desperately meed them... For reference, the car is a 91 S4, also in my signature.
Questions,
- What should I do/say about internal wheel components to ensure they are checked for damages? The adjuster for Hagerty is coming on Monday
- Where is the best place (Porsche?) to find these parts (fender, front bumper cover, inner wheel liner, lights, etc... all oem)? Are all these parts still available?
- Any other advice for the adjuster to ensure this gets handled appropriately?
- The fender looked like it moved closer to the hood towards the front and actually pulled away a little in the rear by the windshield but all other panels don't appear to be affected.
Lastly, the paint is nearly new so (just applied 3M coating to entire front end as well.. sucks) it shouldn't be difficult at all to match which is good.
Thanks for the help to all those who have helped me out during this mild renovation of the motor and other bits and pieces. She was driving and sounding amazing since she's been back on the road.
Cheers,
Bryan

I wanted to share a few pics of the wheels as well during the stripping and powder coating process. I also purchased new seals and covers for the TPMS sensors which look great. Thanks to Rob Edwards for letting me borrow some tools to help in that process. Couldn't have done this process without your help.
Regards,
Bryan

Pic2 - Stripped
Pic3 - Finished and waiting to mount. This pic was taken on Wednesday... tragedy for sure. Hoping she will be good to go soon.
PS. Accident speed was probably under 5 miles an hour but he was still moving and just dragged across my front corner. I guess it could have been worse.

Sorry to hear about the accident.
From the pictures it looks like you will need a new fender. The bumper cover looks ok to be reused. You will need a side marker light. I don't see any scratches or dents on the wheel. So the damage is pretty much localized to the fender.
Mark at 928 International is your closest source. The inner fender liners are still available from Porsche. He could also source you a good used fender for substantially less than a new one.

Bryan-
CRAP- sorry to see the damage- my only concern in the LF would be that the headlight bucket and pivot arm are unbent. I'd guess they're fine, tho. That front bumper cover will need some attention too, hopefully it's just cosmetic along the upper posterior edge.
+1 on Mark for the LF fender, he's got a stack of good candidates. I hope Mr. Sonoma has good insurance, or at least a good bicycle when you trade his truck for a new front fender.

I had the same thing happen to me in March. I searched around for parts but Mark would be the best bet for used parts.
Although I got hit by a Cadillac SUV, and am in the appeals process for an insurance claim.
Good luck on your repairs.

Thanks guys,
1) Front bumper cover has been ripped so it will need to be replaced. There is no way to patch that material that would last the test of time... as far as I know.
2) Headlight bucket is fine.
3) Wheels is scraped and scuffed. I haven't messed with it yet to see if superficial (rubber marks) or actual scratches but I will soon once appraiser comes to assess damage.
- I will reach out to Mark in the morning about fender. What are they new?
- If I had my rub rails filled in and removed was there a part of the rub rail that was in the front fender that would also need to be removed?
- What would the cost of a new front fender be just to compare?
I will update shortly once I know extent of damage. Lastly, Rob, do you mind if I keep the tools a couple weeks longer in case I need to remove TPMS to re-powder coat?

Regarding rub rail, I am asking if there is a part of the rub rail on the fender normally meaning it would be another job that would have to be done on the donor fender.

Just get a used fender from Mark, a new fender is over $1,700 last time I checked. A used one is $400 and he wouldn't sell you one unless it was free from any damage.
I'm in the process of my second repair on the same side as you, the first time I was hit on the passenger's side by a bus.
A general appraisal for the repair job will be around $8,000. At least that is the quote I got for similar damage.
Also, if the bumper cover isn't torn it can be salvaged, repainted, and reused, they are very flexible and can take quite a hit and still be repaired. Otherwise a bumper is $650 used and ~$1,300 new.

Bryan, feel free to keep the tools another couple weeks, there's no rush to get them back.

damn that sux ,
a new used fender yes,
the cut on the PU cover can be fixed use the 3M flexible filler.
You will be amazed at how lite the fender is it will feel like a soda can.
Try to get one thats already black thus it makes it easier to repaint and not have to spot in the edges.
GL with the repairs
Note see if you can also find the same paint code from your replacement fender as there are different black codes

Bryan, missed this post earlier. Very sad to see your car like this, hope it gets fixed quickly. Sad that the driver just didn't pull over and you had to chase him down. Hopefully he has insurance. The wheels look really great!

Guys, thanks for responding and your input. So, hears the deal.
Hagerty is sending check for an amount that I think is fair. As long as the project doesn't cost more they don't care how I fix it. So, I will be doing the breakdown myself, purchasing parts from Mark and others when needed and then hand them over to the body shop to paint, set the fender and then get her ready. I will do the final steps once complete. Should save me some money and will hopefully allow me to do some other house cleaning items (bushings and such) well I'm in there. This thing will basically be brand new after everything that has been done over the last 5 years.
Rob, I will take off wheel this week and fix next week so I can set TPMS sensors and send back your tools ASAP. Thanks again!!

are you certain there was no twisting to the unibody at the impact point? How is the car tracking? What about the control arms - still straight? I would examine these things very closely, and make sure your only issues are cosmetic and not structural.

I say this only because it is obligatory in body damage threads
THAT'LL BUFF OUT
But it does hurt to see that damage, sorry to hear. I was hoping to come over sometime and check out your car when I get back to Fresno.
