Ouch. Sorry to hear about this. Definitely push for a new fender. I would also ask for another bumper cover in the event the collision deformed it. You can usually tell in the center of it if the grille area appears to be bowing slightly.

What a sack of **** who hit you and tried to take off. As much as I say you should get the police involved since it was an attempted hit & run, they would probably try and demonize you for pursuing the main offender.

Andy, I agree.

Sean, you're welcome anytime. I noticed the PM as well... will be in touch soon.

So, I will have pics this weekend but to ease the minds it was only cosmetic in nature and not structural. Everything besides the fender and front bumper cover (and inside splash guard) are in great shape and look great. I was able to settle with Hagerty and I will be tearing down myself. Dropping off car disassembled with new parts to paint and they will put back together.

I did get a fender and a couple other items from Mark but still looking for a good bumper cover. They had one but it had bondo on it.. maybe I will purchase new. Anyone else out there no of good source for used bumper cover in great shape? The closer the better as it's a large item to ship.

Thanks,
Bryan

Default Update

Well, I have made some progress.

1) Wheel has been taken back to powder coat to get redone.. end of next week I will have it and I will send back Rob's tools.. thanks again!!!
2) Fender and bumper cover have been removed. Actually an extremely easy job and went very smooth. Not issues with access at all really except a couple tight spots.

Questions:
1) What is the part number for the little brace arm that extends from the inner unibody structure out to support the lower corner of the fender where it seals with the bumper cover. Mine is usable but it was slightly tweaked. I could easily bend it back but figured a good used one would ensure that I am bending it to the proper location if that makes sense... it is made of very thin metal... super flexible. So, I wasn't sure if it was worth removing or not.. thoughts?

2) What is the seal that is on top of the bumper cover (left and right of the hood) that seals between the fender? Mine also look new as I'm guessing they were replaced when the car was restored a few years back but if they are cheap I may just replace them.

3) What is the best method for scraping off (I only have a little) the old sealant between the fender and the body along the hood area where the bolts are located? There is a littler residue and I want to replace with new but don't want any left overs which could cause the fender to ride high.

4) You will see some little copper or brass colored electrical connectors that have a curvy piece that comes out of it. These sit in the side turn signal lights with the silver circular connector as well. I had to pull them a part to get that white plastic piece removed in order to remove the bumper cover. The question is, one of those curvy brass looking things detached itself front the straight spade portion... should I solder back together? Any ideas or should I just buy a new clip and cut the wire and solder that instead with heat shrink?

Lastly, what is this box and what are wires that don't go to anything for? I am guessing they are there to test something as a diagnostic aid... any info would be helpful.

Thanks for all the help!!!

Regards,
Bryan

the box is called a tempostat This is the cruise control actuator.

the two wires crimped in a bundle are for the Euro turn signals that would go into the lower edges of the front fenders
