From what I can tell, this thread should be reduced to three posts. Post 1 - pictures of headers, post 2 - before dyno results with test conditions as baseline, post 3 - After dyno results with test conditions for comaprison. Would be great if all else could get cleaned up.

If he has been paying attention,he would know that HP is torque (where the rubber meets the road) ..... at any vehicle speed!

But, his head is already almost at capacity, so he might not have room for that one!

Oil???? hmmmm, you know me....... all I say is , as long as its not mobil 1.

Admins please delete the "Gearing" and "Oil" off-topic and well-beaten-dead-horses from this thread.

I rode in the prototype 86.5 that employed these new headers and exhaust yesterday.

I also own a well-sorted 86.5, which Greg Brown and Grant worked on.

I can tell you that the prototype's header/exhaust system gives the car a very angry quality. Not only is there a noticeable power increase, but the subjective quality of the power is very different: it is much more immediate, with no lag whatsoever.

I think it is a no-brainer (except for cost) for us 85-86 S3 owners. It won't be cheap, but keep in mind that Greg has spent tens of thousands + hundreds of man-hours in R&D developing this system.

I, for one, will be signing up when they are for sale!

Wasn't there a promise of a video/soundfile from the final dyno tune in here somewhere? Thought the owner said something along those lines...or if not, it's a request!

I agree on the sound file. But we will need at least 20 posts on what microphones to use, where to place them, what sound file format is the best, etc.

By the time I was done with the development of this exhaust system and tuning, I was also completely done with this terribly trashed thread.

There will be a reckoning.

Hai....
i have a little question as a S4/GTS newbie form Germany....

How much is the Equal Length Race Header in HP/Torque
How much is the X-Pipe H-Pipe in HP/Torque
And what takes the chip s300?

I will also build the Intake Manifold Spacers. I think it is 10 HP more...

Anyone with a sound File here?

Last question - where can i buy this nice items?

Greg Brown in Anaheim CA makes the headers. You can buy a Sharktuner from me direct. Se my signature below.

Are these just for the 32V, or will they fit on a 85 Euro? These look great.

These will not fit. The port configuration on the 2 valve heads is completely different than on the 4 valve heads. The 4 valve heads have the exhaust port centered in relationship to the individual cylinders and the 2 valve heads have the exhaust port approximately 1 inch offset from the center of the cylinder. The "offset" on the ports is forward on the passenger side of the car and to the rear on the driver's side. This made pipe location a real challenge on the left side, because of the steering rack and associated pieces.

The good news is that we have just finished our developmental exhaust for the 2 valve engines. And this entire system is bolted onto a 1985 Euro....that we baseline tested before this exhaust (and had to repair it to get it to make stock horsepower.)

We are hoping to equal or surpass the power that we obtained from the development of the system in this thread. 315+ rear wheel horsepower will make a Euro car so fun!

As soon as we get the final tuning and testing done, I'll start a new thread....but I can tell you this...it runs really good, with just the stock Euro brains.

Default headers

Just got my headers and exhaust on from Greg.... totally awesome !!!!

I originally had the devek level 2 with dual 3 inch exhaust that was ear plug loud. NOW it is quiet muscle sound, throaty when you get on it but now I can hear the stereo and my wife will ride in the car again !!!!

Now to the dyno to compare.
