Default WARNING - Bad USED Parts Supplier

Many of you may have noticed a new used parts supplier called RICH VM who has opened up some Facebook accounts for his own goals as a new parts supplier.
He offered for sale some used rear tail lights which I subsequently agreed to buy from him. These NEVER materialized and after some email exchanges he stated that they were no longer available as they were defective. This conversation was on the 928 used parts forum on Facebook that he created. He removed the discussion from the group to hide the issue from others. At the time I gave him the benefit of the doubt and moved on.
I also heard from a customer of mine in the UK who had also purchased some rear tail lights that were not shipped when Rich VM promised to do so. Again the customer was told they were defective and would not be shipped and refunded the money paid in advance.
Sean Ratts also purchased a set of used H4 headlights from RICH VM and contrary to the description one was defective and cloudy and could not be made good by the usual methods. Sean asked for a resolution and was basically told to take a ride by RICH VM.
After some time Sean posted his feelings about the bad transaction on the parts forum on Facebook only to be BANNED by RICH VM.
I also posted a very polite message on the same Facebook forum asking RICH VM to explain why he had banned Sean and why he had not rectified the issue with Sean as the customer.
HIS ACTION WAS TO REMOVE MY COMMENTS FROM THE GROUP which in my WORLD says he was guilty as proved.
We do not want another MASON FINE in the 928 community and as a warning to all potential used parts purchaser's stick with people you can trust like Mark Anderson at 928 International.
You have been warned!!!!!!

Rich VM Roger Tyson i removed your post since i did not wanted to discuss this in public and since it was actually an issue between Sean Ratts and me and not really professional if we do so . I don't understand you'r reaction to this since i recommended a lot customers to you! The issue was the H4 headlight which i offered either a full replacement or a refund of the $100 dollar. Sean R agreed on an replacement H4 headlight. I told him i do not have one at this moment. He was fine waiting on it. Weeks go buy and i didn't get one. I ask him one more time if i should refund him. He agreed to the full refund BUT WANTED TO KEEP THE HEADLIGHT AS WELL since he had enough on waiting. I told him that if he wants the refund he needs to return the headlight, which he refused to do. Whats the point in spreading the word around i am a bad parts supplier? As of the taillight, i still have them here and Ian Salisbury wanted 100% perfect tail light. Whats the point in selling something that will return because it is defective?? Ian was satisfied with the transaction and bought other parts from me as he stated in my forum. Roger Tyson's post to me in a private message last night: "You are a crook as you have not responded to me in a professional manner - I will now post my feelings on Rennlist, L andsharks, UK board, German board and my complete customer list"- I don't think this is an professional reaction or behavior! To Dan 87951,

Some people do Dan and some don't. All prices are negotiable! Thanks for your input.

Wow, it seems really easy for these things to get started around here doesn't it.

Without expressing any opinions on this deal that I am not a part of....., I will say that I have bought, sold and traded with Richard many times. In doing so, I have never had any reason to question his integrity.

I have only met Roger at a function once, but by his online persona and reputation, I believe him to be of the highest character. As a very small customer of 928 R US I have been nothing but completely satisfied.

I hope that I have been around here long enough to have an opinion that means something to someone.

In this case, I think it is inaccurate and unfair to label a startup business as a"Bad used parts supplier" based on the scenario described.

Well Rich VM why did you resort to banning people and removing legitimate questions about your business ethics from all the Facebook accounts instead of dealing with the issues in a professional manner.
Luckily you cannot remove my comments from this forum or ban me and others like you have on your own forums.
The 928 community is tight knit and you were given ample opportunities to resolve the matters in a professional way but chose not to.
I would expect the same for myself and my business if I were to start using the bad business practices you have used.

Brian I hear you but we tried to resolve the matters in a professional way only to be Banned and have all conversations REMOVED so no one can see them.

Please tell me what is "inaccurate" about the statements made by myself in this thread???

As for "Unfair" do you agree that BANNING and REMOVING ALL posts from the 928 Facebook forums is a fair way to conduct business - in my book that reeks of bad practice.

So Brian I am willing to listen to how you would deal with this issue? We have all tried to do this the right way.

Default In support of RichVM

Rich is a good and honorable person. He started the Atlanta, GA get together at my house, paid for the food and beer out of his pocket long before he thought about selling used parts here.

I am proud to call him my friend and bristle at the harsh words brought by the OP, who if memory serves had his own 'issues' when he was starting his new parts business. None of us are perfect. Could Rich have handled the criticism better, yes, but he is new to all this, so I think we should cut him some slack.

For the record:

1. The parts Rich has been selling have likely come from my parts cars.
2. If a vendor realizes the parts were not what he represented and seeks to reverse the transaction I am not sure why that should be held against him.
3. I have bought used parts from other members here and there have been occasions were what was represented was not what was delivered and would have liked the seller to do what Rich did.
4. The Facebook group Rich founded was initially applauded on this very forum and does serve a purpose.
5. All Rich's prices were OBO and subject to negotiation.

In my experience I have found it fairy easy for two parties with reasonable expectations to come to an agreement.

This thread and others pertaining to this issue are spattered with enough details for one to form their own opinion. As I stated in my original comment, I would like to refrain from getting involved (too late I guess) in an individual transaction and it's details.

Rather, I felt, and still feel, that to label an individual or supplier as "BAD" on a public forum, based on an individual transaction is too broad of a brush stroke.

Your word means a lot around here. You have earned that by conducting your business in an honest and consistent manner for many years/decades.
I hope that we, as a community, allow for a start up business to have a few hick-ups here and there before writing them off completely or labeling them as "BAD" over a disagreement about condition or terms of a refund.

I will repeat that I have had many transactions with Richard. We have traded parts and product both ways. So much so, that I feel we have developed a friendship based on those transactions. From my perspective he is not a BAD supplier.

I hope you both have a wonderfully productive and profitable day.

Sigh, this all blew up because I posted a picture of the head lights Rich sent me, which were not as advertised. I told Rich I'd wait on another set because I have faith in people to make it right. Many months passed and we had frequent contact and never had a resolution. Finally, in our last conversation I told him I'd take what I had for the price I paid for it. End of story. I also PM'd a few on my buddy list about the transaction. End of story, or so I though.

Yesterday I found that Richie had banned me on several of the FB groups that he is an admin on. I PM'd him to tell him I thought it was a dick move and he blew up about me spreading bad info about his business. He went so far as to threaten my business and Rogers. Also told him that it just might be that English is not his primary so things might just be a bit misunderstood. I never posted anything publicly about him or any such bull**** and then I updated the picture of the head lights that there was no real resolution and I would be buying my parts from 928 International.

As of this morning I told him to just leave me the hell alone.
