Dropped the rear suspension and transaxle all in one unit today in less than an hour. Nice to have a lift and a tranny jack :-D I still hate emergency brake cables :-(
And I will add that whomever decided that the rear shock should be mounted on the picot shaft should have their head examined. I get the reason and the elegance of it, but in practice it sux. This was the first time I had to put a torch to this car. The rear shock inner bushing was rust welded to the pivot shaft.

Funny enough the left side shock basically fell off when we unbolted it. Getting closer to the finish line!

Well today was a good day. Lots of work accomplished. Hope to flush the fuel system and give her a whirl this weekend. But before that we have brakes to finish and bleed, clutch slave cylinder to install, exhaust to install and a myriad of vacuum lines to connect :-D

Before you get to bleeding, I think those calipers need to be swapped side to side, so the crossover pipes are on the bottom. Little easier to bleed that way.

Well more progress today. Buttoned up the rear, got the brakes on, battery box, exhaust placed for adaptation, X-pipe placed, heat shields. Gotta figure out a way around the X-pipe for the cross member - fab time.
Next is finishing the front brakes, wire the fans and fan controller, vacuum lines, flush the fuel system, put anti-freeze to her and give her a whirl!

Hey if anyone out there reading this thread has or has had a 78 and put an X-pipe I would like to see what you did for a cross member. I have some ideas but would love to hear from other listers.

If anyone out there is seeking engine parts for 78-86 please contact me. I have a lot of left over stuff from this project and would be happy to give someone here on the list a good deal. I have everything from oil pumps to timing covers and everything in between.

@dogleg actually up at the shop today watching 12" of snow fall just in time for the car to get new sneakers today I will have some more pics later. Bleeding the brakes and clutch. Wiring up the dial electric fans and controller and a bunch of bits and nits.
