Default HVAC heater doors removal for foam replacement?

As part of my GT project (https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ished-car.html), I opened up the HVAC box yesterday and started the cleaning/refurbish phase on it. Has anyone been able to remove the 2 doors for the heater core to replace the foam, and if so, how in the world do you get the doors off the hinges? I found BigAl's writeup but I think he replaced the foam without removing the doors?

Cheers!
Carl

You need to remove the metal shafts that go through the doors. The shafts have circular clips on each side. Pry the clips off, then slide the shafts out of the box. Before you do this, it is best to remember the orientation of the shafts and the doors.

I did this you need to do what dprantl said. Use 1/8 inch closed cell self adhesive foam on the flaps.

Thanks gentlemen!

I was afraid of that, but here we go....pulling the shafts out.

Cheers!
