85 Euro Fog Light Question
I have an 85 Euro. The Fog Light/Driving Light setup on it is a little odd.
The driving lights (inboard) are the original Euro ones. No "DOT" on the lenses, they flash when lever is pulled (no matter if lights are on or off) and come on with the brights when the headlights are on.
The outboard lights, however, are the US version parking lights. They come on with the headlights, and the fog light switch doesn't change anything. They don't quite fit in the trim piece, have "DOT" on the plastic lens, only have one bulb in the light.
I'm guessing that when the car was federalized back in the 90s, they just swapped out the Euro fogs for the US parking lights. I think I still have the wiring for the fog lights under the bumper. There are some wires taped up and tied off under there, I just haven't checked to see if they power up with the switch. I have wiring for the rear fog light.
Looking around at the various vendors, I don't see any Euro fog lights listed. Lenses, yes, and US foglights, but no Euro ones.
I'd like to have fog lights that are brighter than the parking lights, preferably operated by the fog light switch.
So - Are Euro fog lights available? - The 2 bulb parking/fog light version.
If not, will the US fog light (intended for the inboard position) fit in the outboard hole? I know that's a one big bulb light housing. I would then live without front parking lights.
Can I put the larger bulb in the parking light socket without melting the plastic lens? I'd rewire it to the fog light switch. I saw LeonSpeed's thread about this, but that was an 89 with the later lights. I have an 85 with the early setup.
Would putting a Euro fog light lens on the US parking light housing work? I kind of doubt that, but it's worth asking.
Or is there something else that I haven't thought of that would work (or prevent my ideas from working)?

Hi,
The Euro fogs and driving lights are NLA new, you can only find them used.
Also, I believe the Euro and US lights are different in shape, that's why the trim pieces have different reference numbers for US and Euro.
