cup holder recommendation
Any one got a recommendation for a good cup holder, in the 928?

I ordered this one on Amazon earlier this year. Fits perfectly between the passenger seat and console. No holes, no adhesive. Stays in place and works well.

Price is right. No fabrication involved. Holds two large and phone or glasses. Tucks right behind my seat when not in use snuggly against my fire extinguisher. Perfect place to reach and pick up your coffee. My passengers don't mind when I used it with them on long drives. Believe me, my wife would complain in a heartbeat.
Add: Found a pic of it in a 928 from an old post of mine. I got mine at Walmart for 5$ 4 years ago.

Joe try this. I bought one and it attaches to the pass side, carpeted, console panel with two screws. Folds up and not in the way. Company called GOWESTY. 2 cup Factory holder from a VW eurovan. K

Another alternative is 928 Owners Club. Check with Betsy Andrade, our Goodie Store operator (Mesa AZ), to see if she has one with the 928 OC logo on it. OR - I think with a 2 year renewal, Jim Willman (Membership Chair) will send you one free. These are the BEST fold up cup holders I've ever seen, much better than the one shown in the link by SanDiego928 (I had that one, but threw it away after getting the OC one).
Gary--
PS: The one supplied by 928 OC for the renewals is exactly the same as shown by Ashmason in the post below, except it has the 928 OC logo on the part that can be seen when folded up.

I made one from scratch with aluminum sheet that fits in the window sill. The 928 door panels are too wide for a generic NAPA cup holder so I bent the aluminum the proper width, riveted the round piece to the bent piece, painted it black and you have a cup holder. Actually way more trouble than its worth, but it works well. The plastic two cup solution for the passenger seat looks easiest!

the Walmart "Wedgie" is a good option if you have a sealed travel mug, but they are too shallow for me to want to put a standard paper coffee cup in (Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, etc.) - it will fly right out. maybe its my driving style!
i had one in my Subaru SVX (also no cupholders, Wedgie popular with those owners, too), and it didn't work for me too well.
i found this item in a post on Rennlist, and i'd like to try it out - looks like a good solution to mount on the passenger side of the center console, folds up when not in use:

+1 On the Wedgie Unit.
And Landshark87 makes a good point. Get a GOOD travel mug or you will be cleaning cofffee out of your carpet or worse you stereo head unit after a firm application of the binders.
I reccomend the A bunch of us local coffee drinkers honestly tested a bunch of mugs and found the Contigo to be our favorite. You can fill it up, hold it upside down and shake it, no leaks. Survives many trips through dishwasher, holds 16 ounces and keeps it hot for a long time. Also seems less likely to drip down your shirt.

Use the right coffee cup and you don't need a holder.
Double-walled stainless, sits on the floor or center console without tipping over.
