Tunr Signal/Tail Light
Got a quick question...
When I turn on my turn signals on my '83 (either left or right) my tail light illuminates with it (doesn't flash...just illuminates). Is this normal?
Also, about 70% of the time, when I use the turn signal, I get a warning light (I think it is the tail light and the "!") that easily cancels with the reset button.
I have searched all over, can't find the reason for this error. I've changed the bulbs to correct bulbs and still have the problem.
Any thoughts?

I would check the grounds as it sounds like a the other bulb is the ground source.
BTW what was the last thing you fixed

Let's see...last thing I fixed on the car was.......
TB/WP, all belts, radiator hoses, paint, AC, rear shocks, rear calipers, pads all the way around, brake wear sensors, speedo head, new head unit, speakers, replaced 1-3 synchros and dog teeth......hmmm....I'm sure I'm missing something! However, there should be no deferred maintenance!
Today I started replacing all the carpet.....but the problem with the turn indicator/tail light has been on going since I put the car back on the road.

there is a ground point in the rear right side of the hatch just follow the brown wires to the bolt also look in the spare tire well for the ground

I had a problem a bit like this last weekend when I put both lens back after I removed them to drill some holes in there.
On the right side, the tail light was flasing with the turn signal but in reverse sequence!
This only with the parking lights on.
I cleaned the connector - harness and lens side - with electric connection cleaner and it fixed the problem.
Strange things can happen in those car!

When I get some time today I'll check those grounds and maybe pull the light assemblies and clean all of the connections. It is just a weird problem. Since both sides have the tail light illuminating with the turn signal I thought it might be normal...however, getting the "caution" light more times than not when I use the turn signal, I figure there has got to be a problem somewhere!
