Headliner fitment
What's the best way to tackle this? Redone liner (thanks Robb) , but she just does not want to stay fitted. I have seen screwed used . PO did it...... But... Meh, if I have too....

That's not how the edges look on the original.

My '83 has no trim piece, just a sheet metal screw at each end and plastic attachment clips.
Are you reusing the plastic attachment clips or r they new? Once pulled out clips are usually compromised a bit.
New ones should hold well even if the liner is a bit thicker than stock,
If liner is a bit thicker at edges you may need a helper to hold the liner in place so you can give the liner a wack over the clip locations with a cloth covered acrylic hammer. Mark these locations on leather very lightly first with an upholsterers crayon.
If adding a correct sheet metal screw and finish washer bothers you as it would me, maybe a quarter size dab of contact cement in those low hanging
locations.
Very nice interior BTW
Good luck.

There is just some plastic that goes between the liner and the roof metal.

The headliner was a giant PITA on Hebert's car, I'd get one side in, run around to the other side, try to pop it in, which would pop out the first side. Like a bad Chinese firedrill. I think it's because the new headliner covering was thicker than the factory vinyl. Eventually it went back to the local pro, who fixed it properly.
There's a T-shaped piece of piping that runs up the seam between A-pillar trim and the body that extends between the headliner and body, to the rear edge of the top of the door opening. 999 911 314 40, PET shows it used only on 87-95, but it might be a useful 'gap filler' in this instance.

Not a bad idea. The driver side front clip is new, but just won't stay in. The backer board hole was crap so I had to use epoxy to hold the new clip in.....

Correction to my previous post. Was at the wrong end of the car
My 79 has a screw in each corner of the headliner door openings. Is that not factory?
