Just received the new fuel line directly from Greg. As I had an early 87 he actually reworked a single line with a threaded male end to fit to my fuel cooler. Then express shipped it to me. He and Roger... what does one say...
I'm just getting my hands dirty now on it. Should be running shortly.

Well, car not running shortly. My fuel cooler hardware is from an 86 as I have an early MY 87. Greg and Roger made good and I received new line yesterday. Also had a hiccup at the dampener/rail union.
So over the next day or so, I will be receiving the sealer for the fuel line, a new ISV and CPS. This will give me something to do over the next few days. Intake already off.

Intake goes back on tomorrow after some complications up top.
Looking forward to starting her up again.

I want to megasquirt it. With the Euro S throttle body and runners. Get rid of the CIS. (It's a pain.)

But first, buy a proper crimper and sort out battery cables et al.

Get the HVAC system rebuilt, get a stereo system installed (I know where the speaker wiring ends just not where it begins ), replace leaking transmission cooler line, completely replace old interior foam and add sound deadening (basically improved Brown Bread); and buy a Euro S2 throttle body, I already have the manifold.....Make it a GT car again.

After spending the last few weekends installing a new timing belt/water with porkensioner, all new accessory belts, coolant flush and new hoses, fuel pump and filter, fresh Redline oil in the transaxle, bled the brakes and mounted some new Yokohama's. Today I finished buttoning up the belly pans, dropped the car and fired her up.....which put a big smile on my face. Tomorrow is a shakedown run to Whistler...the smile should last until the middle of next week

Well, I have something to do again on the car.
After everything was buttoned up, I started cleaning the work area and putting tools away.
Found an M8 nut under a shop rag on the work table. I immediately recognized it. Was the nut that holds down dampener bracket and intake on its stud. Not a quicky for it sits directly under the rail/dampener union, and will require some dissection. Nice...

I would like to get my car washed by those girls, especially the blonde, on s4hounddog's avatar picture. Wow.

Next to do is fix some vandalism.
Some cretin pulled up the wing a bit and then scratched it. It is a nicely painted one.
That individual should burn somewhere.

Get the HVAC box out. I removed the blower motor housing and the air intake housing under it and cleaned it. Also removed the wind sheild wipers, what a pain... But it is all going smoothly, it gives me a chance to replace corroded wires and clean the contacts on the Relay panel and properly repair some haphazard wiring in the car. I need to remove all of the old open cell insulation as it is causing a dust storm in the car when I take things apart; I think 3M thinsulate should do nicely.

Remove both fuel rails in preparation to have them cleaned. after lots of study here, I'm convinced my non run issue (runs for a few seconds and then dies) is clogged injectors. checked everything else and I'm getting spark and fuel from back to front. all the relay jumps have been performed to rule that out, and found some other things to fix in the meantime as preventative maintenance. If nothing else, great learning experience, and I'm fearing these cars less as I dig--carefully of course! Ken

Bought a 'new' one - 1990 S4 auto from Japan so Euro style, and LHD. Has only 37,000 km, about 23,000 miles.

Now... I have to pull the AC/Central locking panel on the console. Just noted tonight that the illumination for the central locking bulb is spotty. Goes on and off over bumps, and if I tap the panel, the bulb goes on and off. Central locking function normal. I don't like things not to work the way they're supposed to even if it's only minutia.

Re-install the fuel rails if they're ready and fire her up! (hopefully) If they aren't I'll keep doing the little things to have her ready to run: replace broken pivot on the hatch for the shock; fix broken lock pivot on the passenger door; check stereo wiring (Monterey with stock amp) and maybe put in some used speakers to test for function of the units; wow I really have some work to do if I'm going to actually drive this thing! Ken
