Very cool

The metal GTS side trim pieces have a different section shape to the earlier windshield trim, to help retain the rubber seals.

Do these silicone ones need that different trim, or do they wedge in tight enough not to need it even when wet?

Roger - I need to email you a list of parts.. works been busy for the last month. Thanks for holding the other bits this long!

Hi Hilton,
Zane's car is an 87 and the seals fit extremely well and WILL not come out.
So no need for the newer trim.

As these are extrusions they will never be as perfect as the GTS Porsche molding but pretty dam close.

Best,
Roger

I did this upgrade last year using the factory GTS parts, both metal trim as well as the rubber seals. As I recall, it ran about $250 for all of it, but most of that was for the seals. Roger's seals offer a significant savings on the most expensive part of this replacement/upgrade. The GTS metal trim pieces were approx $40/side, relatively cheap by comparison to the seals.

I prefer the rubber or silicone pieces in this application. Not only are they factory (or look factory), but I suspect they are superior to the alternative available in the areas of wind noise reduction and vibration attenuation. YMMV

So, let me get this straight..some of you have 928's where you can actually hear the wind noise from the windshield over the roar of the exhaust and "Some Girls" blaring from the radio???

Are there any additional tips to installing these? Been thinking about using Dow Corning 111 instead of soapy water. Just worried a bit about water being trapped under the seal when using soapy water. Or will the 111 trap water? I don't know. Probably worrying too much again.

^^ Nope, I'm right there with ya. My car is in use and actually sees precipitation, don't want any new permanently moist spots...

Finally in stock - took waaay longer than it should have.
$38 gets you 60" which is enough to practice trimming the ends correctly and plenty left over.
Have a few sets out there being fitted so I can get some initial direct customer feedback.

I have all the original emails wishing to purchase and we will be in contact over the next few days.

Aryan,
So far all been fitted with copious amounts of soapy water with zero issues and no trapped water.
Make sure you use a new blade for the surgery.

Woo Hoo! Finally!

You said with my last order that I am on "the LIST", but I'm going to e-mail you to double check.

Thanks Roger. It looks like there is a small rain channel on the outside of the windshield, so better to leave it free with soapy water than to plug it up with 111.

Roger,
Please include a set and an original hood/engine cover with my Top End/Intake Refresh parts order for next Saturday's install at Sean's.

Thank you

Is there any noticeable difference in wind noise? I'd almost be interested in them to fill that gap as someone did a sloppy job of replacing the windscreen in my car and can see a little sealer in between the windshield and metal trim.
