Anyway an "Mariani 928 RS" clone is being made as we speak.

It'll probably be featured in Pano
Dude, I'm 32.3 Grams lighter after the prostatectomy, and ready to kick some sweet Georgia ***...

tell him to observe that bro.

Does this mean some little Chinese kid is hand polishing aluminum S3 parts as we speak???

If the magazine article doesn't pan out again, find out who the Chinese buyer is and sell your car to him.

I don't care about any magazine articles. Really, I get nothing out of it, they do. They're the ones looking for content. I made this 928 into what i want, I don't care what they or anyone else thinks. It is interesting though how much weight reduction is possible AND how this transforms the character of a car made to cope with 750 to 1000 more pounds.

Re selling: I never wanted to sell. It was only due to lack of work space that i made the bad decision to list. I really organized and threw stuff out and placed the Porsche 911/ 912 parts up high to get it all out of the way. I realized I have space to build on too.

This car is insanely fun to drive, the paint and details are very nice, it has gotten me restoration work with air-cooled Porsche owners. So why sell?

It owes me nothing and has been so reliable. I'm really attached to this car, it's part of me.

But thanks for the advice Imo000 and take care. -Matt

And Dave, just get well Buddy. I love what you're doing to your car. It one of the nicest here.

A magazine article is one heck of a publicity if you are in the Porsche restoration/modification field (full or part time). You would get a lot out of it too not just the magazine. Seeing how the last article deal went sour, I don't blame you for changing your opinion on it though but if another opportunity comes along again, might be worth a second chance.

I really need one of those sunroof-delete headliners. I had one, but it was damaged beyond repair.

Fixer - you know the hatch is not REALLY that heavy. General lower-hanging fruit seems more worthy than molding that. The glass does make it heavy, so the glass can be swapped for plastic, but the hatch itself - maybe 30 pounds. I can weigh if we don't have a sans-glass number.

I have an offer from another big Porsche Magazine anyway.. but when it's done. It's not "polished" enough for Panorama imo.
Panorama is a beautiful mag now as I've recently re subscribed and can say Pete Stout has done a good job. But again, it's not for them imo and I'm more than fine with that.

I agree the hatch weight is really in the thick [for a reason] glass.

BC, why not post that you're looking for a non sunroof roof panel. That's how I found mine. If i find one, i'll contact you.

Default 356/911R tyle Door Glass

Done with the old school Porsche door glass, weight savings over stock is about 16 lbs. The adjustment by leather strap works very well. There is no binding at all when sliding up or down. Smooth action.

Next time formed Lexan quarter glass, maybe with louvers.

Oil Temp or Oil Press warning light, i forget which but they're labeled in the car.

Found pics, here you go.

I want a nice dash and pod now too, something like Rob Budd offers. I'm over the 935 look..

The center consul will become more elegant too with body color painted aluminum and different gauges [air/fuel plus analog clock]

I will then add back the glove box lid too b/c 928 glove box lids are light unlike a the heavy 911 glove box lids.

I need to find another nice manual 928 seat, They're only 25 lbs. My driver's side seat was in great condition but power and 50 lbs. I gave it away.
I want the seats done in matching blue, with pasha inserts. To people in the know, early 928 seats are a bit iconic in a way to us. I think i need to use them here.

Hey Stan!
Couple years ago. Craigslist.

I'd like to find it to let him know again, I'd like first crack at buying it back if he were to sell. I misplaced his contact info.

Wow what a thread! Great workmanship and creative design.

And I thought I had lightened my GT! When I played "Delete" with it.

I'll have to get it on a scale to see where it comes in...

Any updates???
