Default Noisy Lifters After High RPM Runs

After tooling around with the engine at a good boil in second or third and coming to a light the lifters clatter. If I sit at idle for a while or turn the car off for a minute or so they quiet down some. What do you think the problem is?

What oil are you running?
What is your oil pressure?

if your oil weight is less than 15w40 then you need to change it. If your oil pressure is good consider putting some ATF in the engine and driving for 100 miles before changing.

Have to ask (don't want to
What oil are you running and how old is it?
Also was the Oil hot before your runs, what was the oil gauge reading at idle?

Mobil1 15W50 less than 300 miles
Pressure pegged high then middle of the gauge at idle
Engine fully warmed up.
I already ran Rislone through it before changing the oil. It didn't help.

Sounds to me like your lifters are partially plugged.

Greg Brown has some good stuff that he uses. Might contact him.

Swepco 502 is purportedly good for cleaning lifters.

Default .

I know having these cam plugs fall out will cause ticking at idle/warm up when first starting the car. But I do not know if having one or more pop out will cause what you are seeing (bleed down after high RPM run).

Only way to verify is to pull each cam cover.....

It goes a little below half way but not much.
It practically a new engine except for the heads.
See the "adventure" here towards the middle of the thread.

I'm not fully understanding that statement, are you saying that the oil gauge never gets down to two bar at idle?

As mine warm up, the both go down to approx. two Bar at idle (this is below the middle) about 1/4 from bottom.
With that said I know that they are not all the same nor are they accurate, so a good flush would be in order, couldn't hurt, right?

Good point, however wouldn't that also show low oil pressure too?

Timestamps are wonky again. My response is above your question.

Had the same issue and I dropped a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil in it. The additive cured the problem. I have concluded that I'll run 1 quart in it from now on with the rest of my Mobil 1 15W50 to keep things clean.

Did you clean the oil check valves in the heads / checked the valve seats?

I didn't build it, but I was wondering if they could be the culprit.
