Default Big problem with 14 pin connector, I think

I am restoring a 1984 Euro. I had to rewire the 14 pin male connector. What is missing from that connector is pin 10. The 4 & 6 ohm coil resistor wire, pin and female connnector. Does the Euro have at least in 1984 that wire? Or did the Euro car come without it. My second problem could be much more of an issue... When I take a test light, and hook up one end to ground then touch the following pins I get the following results: This is on the 14 pin female conn, With the male connector removed.
Pin 1 Exciler Wire, really bright light on test light
Pin 2 O.P switch terminal W.K. bright light
Pin 3 W temp. sensor bright light
Pin 4 O.P. switch terminal G really bright
Pin 5 W. temp sensor; terminal W; little bit of light
Pin 6 all level switch; bright light
Pin 7 auxiliany Air Valvue; really bright
Pin 9 not connected
Pin 14 starter; just a little bit of light
I define really bright as if both ends of the test light leads touch each other. Does this sound like I'm dealing with a short somewhere? Any help will be appericiated.

if you have the twin distributor LH injected engine it uses an ignition brain and NOT the two resistors. Several big differences in the Euro to USA or early Euro CIS and later LH..

Thank you. I just can't understand why a test light would show connect with those 14 pin female connectors to ground...... These 928's are really Addictive.

Neil was kind enough to send my a wiring diagrams, I see what goes to this 14 pin connector I just can't see where the wires go after they leave that connector. What the heck could be causing almost all the wiring in the female connector to be making contact with themselfs.

the insulation of the wires has degraded,
and thus must be reinsulated,
you can do this with either heat shrink,
or cut the wires back to the good insulation,
and resolder the pins back onto each wire ,
or make a complete new harness

Stan, after exchanging emails with Xvette, it is clear he is putting the test lamp on the fixed female socket side of the 14 pin, NOT the free male plug, and therefore he will 'see the light' on various pins as he describes in the OP, as he is looking back into the main circuits, not out to the loads. He is confusing having teh light come on to mean a short, as opposed to a voltage difference which it indicates. A short of course would not turn his light on.
