We originally used bronze bushes in the rear coupler and on some cars they caused a sizzle in the shifter. Changed to none metal bushes and the problem went away

IIRC the front bush is now metal if you used Carl's so maybe an issue with sizzle.

Could be but I've been using that unit for a while with good results, but I'm thinking I need to treat myself to something I want and not need I'll call you tomorrow.

Thanks Rog, but seriously, the bushings (in >>> these <<< pics) are on the inside, right? Is that just a seal on the outside or is it something that could cause it not to go into gear?

The second picture is missing the bushes - not unusual.
Result - difficult to engage a gear.

Perhaps that's why you have this unhealthy fixation with slushboxes ... your five speeds are missing the bushes.
