Default paint and pricing

Val - suggest you edit your first post to change the price to 'around 7K' to give you some negotiating room.

You can edit by clicking the little paper/pencil icon located at the bottom right of the post.
Yes, that is the mismatched paint that I think Nicole referred to. It's what makes it a candidate for a paint-re-do, but it's not hideous, like it was primer or something.

And thanks for the tip on editing the post. I'll put 7K on it and see what I can get.

Andre apparently repainted the left front fender, hood, and the GTS mirrors last year. However, the color is not an exact match.

If you want the car to look perfect, you'll have to repaint it. Andre had all kinds of rubber seals ready, which Val can sell as well. There may be other bits and pieces, but I don't have the list (Bill has it).

Andre even had pistons and rods - we just couldn't figure out what exactly they are. It would take a 928 engine expert to look at those parts and determine what they are and what type of engine they are for, and what their value would be.

Bottom line: Andre was into the mechanics, and put tons of effort into keeping this car running and performing well. You can see lots of mechanical upgrades, and the engine sounds awesome. It seems that Andre put off the cosmetic restoration for last, but the mechanical condition of the car makes it worth that effort in my opinion.

PS: One other little detail: Since this car was made before 84 and has manual transmission, it has the narrower transmission tunnel and wider rear seats.

Val, I wish you well selling this fine car. I wish I could buy it! However I would be interested in the rubber seals. You can respond here or via http://928classics.com

Val........we actually live near Calgary, Alberta, Canada but have often spoke of having a car in the US for, what are becoming, frequent visits for 928 events and we very much enjoy the company of our Texas bretherin.

We have much to consider including the timeline and possible storge in Dallas but so far my wife likes the idea of flying to San Francisco, drive to Dallas then fly home; I like the idea to

Away on business all next week but shall be contact asap.

I've have had the chance to drive it about a year ago. I have to say that it's a ball to drive.
The grears seemed shorter than my car and it comes out of the box hard!. Lots of cool
bits every where and Andre's mechanical skills were well above par.
I agree with the paint issue and I'm surprised it won't pass smog. I don't recall him mentioning this issue.
Good value in my opinion

I wonder how one would feel after advising someone to raise the price of their offering and then the car doesn't sell.............

Yes, but then you have room to be haggled down. It's hard for a seller to haggle the buyer up.

Default Selling the rubber seals--need help with pricing

OK, guys who know this stuff and want to do right by Andre's memory... what would the rubber seals be worth? Nicole?

I'm happy to sell off the parts that Andre had collected, but I need to know what fair prices for them are.

Yes, I know I'm leaning on you guys an awful lot. I'm trusting in your sense of doing-the-right-thing, and your collective, encyclopedic knowledge of these cars.

What should I ask Jadz928 for the seals?

Val:

I was waylaid by surgery in late November and just getting back to"normal". I have a copy of the list of parts that Andre had accumulated. It shows a NEW R&L door seal set. 928Intl sells them for $175 per side. Also, there was another R side new door seal.

Before I got waylaid, my plan was to come back over and take pictures of most of the items, do a little more research on a few of them (like the complete new piston and rod set) to pin down exactly what they are and try to determine some fair prices with you and get a list posted here and/or on eBay or locally and try to make it as easy as possible to sell the items.

So, if that would still be of help, I can come by later this week or next at your convenience and get this together.

Thanks, Bill. That would be VERY helpful . You can private message me or call, and get a time set up. I'm around this week, just need to know when you're coming by. I'm the full-time chauffeur for this herd of kids...

X2 I think most people here do not realize how tough selling a 928 in the current market is.

This car has been for sale for a couple months,

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/cto/3533153064.html

If Andre's car sells for $5k the family should not feel like they left money on the table.

Maybe somone can help list it on Ebay? (best chance for out of state)
