Swear by Rainex, works great with decent sized rain drops, not so well with finer mist and spray. We get plenty of practice here in the UK winters. Need any volunteers?

Congratulations Rob. You bought a car with a great legacy. As some people have mentioned, it might be
better to get a trailer and tow vehicle, then try and get it "street legal" again. A lot of work went into getting
the car as light as possible, and it seems like a good idea to keep it that way. Of course what do I know, I'm
still driving my car to events because I don't have a place to keep a tow vehicle and trailer...

Rob , Here is a thought . Tow it with the GTS , a proper trailer hitch , a lightweight alum tandem trailer ? With a swing tounge on the trailer , the car on the trailer might fit in the garage ? Electric /hydrolic brakes using a P3 controler will give you perportional braking ,tandem axle / 4 wheel dics brakes . I just built a 4800# cap boat trailer in alum , it scaled at 870 #

3500# tow capacity on your 2WD Odyssey minivan, with a big trans cooler and PS cooler setup. Trailer will need brakes.

Damnit, the storage garage at the MIL's condo is 6 feet deeper than normal. Could probably fit an aluminum trailer in there with a swing up tongue. And I put the trans cooler on the Odyssey, just 'cuz, when I bought it.

You guys, yer all enablers!

Car + trailer + extra stuff = way over 3500 lbs.
You will be past the safe limits of the tow vehicles
brakes & trans etc. You can get one of these:
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac...547716577.html
& not risk tearing up the daily driver. If plans change, you could always sell it later at little or no loss- it's already at the bottom of the depreciation curve.

Sell the minivan. Pick up the new Cayenne TDI and a lightweight aluminum trailer and away you go. A local racer up here tows his 360 CS with a Cayenne GTS equipped with the tow package. He was totally impressed with it's towing capabilities and even got around 13mpg on some trips. Said the stability controls with the tow package were phenomenal.

If you don't want a new Cayenne...find an 04ish TDI Toureg ...V10 turbo diesel power .

If he drives to the track in the 928 the spares might bring total a set of wheels, a small tool box, some oil and coolant, floor jack, jack stand , driving gear , bag with change of clothing..
With a light open trailer you probably would not carry that much more....and some / most could be in the Odyssey. Besides did you not just see the space shuttle being towed in L A !!

Or:
drop off your stroker and borrow my truck and trailer. I promise I won't let Pichai get his hands on it

Plenty of options......borrowing a truck and trailer is always cost effective....

My 2010 1500 chevy tows excellent....on a steel open trailer (say 5000lbs) I get around 15mpg...if I am drafting one of the guys in a big box trailer I have seen 19mpg......

When I pulled Seans 24 ft TPD triple axle at about 8000lbs I got 10mpg.....

Depends on if he has to LEAVE the keys to the stroker when he borrows the truck and trailer, could easily need new rear tires after a weekend

Interesting twist - so you head to the track for the weekend and by the time you get back - you need new tires - not so unusual... except when you also need them for the car that stayed behind....!

Ouch

I just remember Mark talking about getting wheel spin on the freeway in third gear at about 70 MPH when he first put a stroker motor in his car.....he does like to go fast !!! Not that there is anything wrong about that.
