Default 1979 fuel sender resistance???

The fuel sender on Casper is a bit iffy....sometimes it works, but often its pegged on empty..... I know the wiring in the dash is old, but I was thinking about checking the fuel sender resistance to see if its in the correct range?

The manuals I have don't list the specific ohm range for a '79 euro. Can anyone help me out?

Everything else is 0 to 80 ohms. I cannot think of a single reason why resistance for a fuel sender would vary between different markets.

Mine had the same issue and I thought it was the fuel sender.

I tested all the leads but got proper resistance. So I looked at the wiring diagram for my 82 and found the connector for the fuel sender in the fuse panel.

Well it was loose in the connector after I did a fuse panel refresh. After snuggling it up, the gauge works fine. That could your problem if the the sender tests ok.

The question was more for preventive maintenance in my case. I've found my high pressure fuel pump is bad, so will need to replace it. And since this particular car is a rescue, the threaded studs on the tank cradle that are used to secure the fuel pump cover were very corroded and both snapped off.

So I get to drop the tank, replace the threaded studs, refurbish the fuel tank cradle and replace hoses. All things that would eventually need to be addressed anyway, but it looks like the car has decided it wants these things done now. I was also planning to open the tank to clean and refurbish the other related components while I'm in there.
