Brett,

If I may ask, is your 88 Wrecked or anything? Or, is the cracked head the only major thing that is wrong with it?

Just trying to understand the reason for parting it out...and there is a possible solution that you may be VERY interested in, IF it is just the cracked head.

FWIW, I am only trying to help, and not interested in buying parts off of it. If it is a "whole" 88 Black 5-speed I would like to help you keep it in one piece and get back to enjoying it....IF you are still interested in doing that.

[Edit] BTW, not trying to sell you anything either, just an honest offer to help IF you are interested and committed to getting it back on the road to be enjoyed.

Cheers,

Dave

In the interim the SE has been up to the rev limiter in 5th on the Autobahn twice, been around the ring a few times, been a daily driver for a couple of years and still doesn't leak coolant into the oil, or oil into the coolant.
What was the brand of that block repair liquid? Sounds like great stuff for my old Peugeot 505.

You can't be serious about an 88 trans with LSD for $1500.

If you're not going to research what the parts sell for than ebay them as an auction, that way you wont feel silly when you find out what they really sell for.

There is what people ask and there is what they get. eBay is a terrible example. There are a few sellers of 928 parts that ask outrageous prices and never sell anything - maybe a part or two.

When you look at what really sells the prices are much less.

If you have never parted a car its a lot more work than you think. I bought a fire car for the trans and engine and parted the rest and it was quite a job so definitely keep that in mind.

If you do end up parting let me know about the fuel injectors and rear tail lamps.

I'd love to help if I could. You'd be welcome to pick through my parts pile for things to fix it, I may have bits like fuel rail covers etc and you can have them.

I still think it's very possibly a bad gasket that started this.

It's just sad to think of someone that's been in the community so long could just part his car out. Even if you don't want to deal with it, someone would be happy to buy it complete. It can be fixed and being a 5 speed S4 is very desireable, and black too!

Yes, I am considering that offer and others. I have many factors to weigh before I decide. I emailed Dave to discuss, if I got the address correct. I am sure he's quite busy right now, though. :-)

As much as I love this car and want to fix it and enjoy it, or keep it intact for someone else to fix and enjoy, my current finances as they are have made me decide to part the car. I have always been as quick as anyone to chastise someone for parting out a fixable 928, but trust me, I have looked at it from as many angles as possible and it has been a very hard decision for me. I have gone over my price list several times and adjusted prices so I am making them low enough that the parts will sell, but not so low I am cheating myself. A few items got bumped up, transmission, seats, some body panels, and a few got bumped down. Also, if I missed anything in my list and you want it, PM me and I will get you a price, but I think I have most of it priced out.

Here is a google docs spreadsheet with items/prices. A few things are sold already and are marked as such.

A lot of parts are spoken for already and I will start pulling stuff tonight, tomorrow, and Saturday and getting these shipped out ASAP. I will be putting the remainder up on EBay early next week, but if you want anything, PM me though Rennlist or email me @bajenkin@comcast.net
