Default Car Transport in Canada

Looking at various options to get the GTS to Calgary from Montreal.

Anyone recommend car carrier between the 2 cities?

TIA

No name offhand, but when I was looking at shipping a car from Ottawa to Saskatoon a year ago, I got 5 quotes, ranging from $1,400 - $1,800. Probably about $200 more for Montreal-Calgary.

Best option is a couple of Westjet tickets from Calgary to Montreal for you & a co-driver and then a 3-4 day drive back. One of the northern routes, either up through Kapaskasing or along the north shore of Superior, makes for a better drive than the southern route along the U.S. Interstates. Probably just as much money in the long run, but a great way to see some beautiful country.

So far I have:

Hansens
ABR
and Thorsons (thx Glenn)

It was also recommended (thx Brad) not to ship via rail.

Appreciate more input asap pls as time is of the essence.

I would drive the car if it wasnt for the extended time although I am open to all possibilities

Here's who I had quotes from last year:
www.performanceautocarrier.com
www.mvscanada.ca
www.shulisttrucking.com
As I recall, they all had quotes back to me in one day.

TFX International Specialized Vehicle Transport

Driving the car back to Calgary will be my first choice :-)

Do you need to move the car from Michel's place anytime soon? If you need a place to put it, let me know.

I used hansens 2 years ago to send my daughter's car to Calgary from Toronto. $1200 and arrived with no scratches or anything. Great experience. Also trackable.

When I look at flights, hotel, car rental in Montreal then the car transport driving back is looking more and more cost effective and I also dont have to worry re. the car being in others hands......thx Luc.

Fred......did Hansens offer covered transport? they want to put the GTS on a train.

No cover. On the train, but it was only an Eclipse ($4K cheaper in TO than Cowtown).

Malcom,

There is an ADESA car auction in Calgary. A lot of transporters go through there everyweek. I would pay a visit and talk to drivers. ADESA has a location at St-Eustache QC, about 25 minutes from where you bought the car. Pretty sure you can get it from one location to the other pretty easily. Let me know if you need information/help, it's a 5 minute drive from my home.

Hey Malcolm

I've used Hansen's 3 times. TR-6 , 928 , 997.

All cars arrived undamaged and took between a week and 2 weeks to arrive. Last one was the 997 , Toronto to Calgary in 2007. Total price was $864.73 taxes in. I remember they were somewhat negotiable on the price.

Suggestion...fly to Montreal and drive to Toronto (about 3 hrs) , probably less for you, to drop car off at Hansen's depot there. It would give you a chance to shake the car down a bit before putting it on the train. It's a $50 buck cab fare from the depot to Toronto airport. Fly home to Calgary from there.

I have a couple of WestJet passes I can give you to get you there and back.

If your'e interested , let me know.
