It's been a while since I've been on here and posted anything but I still have my baby, just haven't had her physically until recently. When I moved last year I had left my car at my old house. My brother took over the lease and it wasn't in his way so he had no problem with me leaving it there. Things just never worked out to where I could get it moved to my new house.

Well I moved again a couple months ago and I finally have the car back in my garage. I've picked up a second job to help bring some funds in and will be ordering parts very soon. Also starting to read up on restoring the 14-pin connector. Mine is horrific and I think may be part of the cause of my no start. Figured it was about time I get back on this project. So many of you here have helped me and I'm extremely grateful for it. Just letting you all know I'm still determined to get this baby up and running!

If I am correct, you have have never driven this car?

You need to plan and hold a tech session to get this thing drivable.

I've never heard her run! ={

That would be great. Maybe once I can get all the parts together a tech session would be a good idea!! Hoping within a month or 2 to have all the funds to order everything from Roger. But for now I want to get some electrical work out of the way as that's usually pretty cheap. Haven't had much time to do any searching yet today but know of any good links for restoring the 14-pin connector off hand? My goal is to get the ignition working again. Before I tore the car down it would turn over by key and now it wont. So that is my goal right now.

Just a bit of an update. Talked with Roger today and he gave me some really good advice. Spent a bit of time looking at the car a bit tonight. My battery is dead so cannot test anything. Will be taking my battery to get charged tomorrow and tested to make sure it's still good. Also Will be buying a noid light set. Do we need a specific good light connection I need to make sure the kit has?

From what Roger said my car should be able to run as is right now. Need to verify if the injectors are firing to start with. Second will be to verify spark as it won't start even with starter fluid. I stripped back the covering to the wires leading to my 14 pin connectors...... I have at least 12-15" of corroded wires, probably more. Not sure how I want to approach this yet. May just save for a new harness from Sean. Don't really know much more than before. Just getting a bit excited to be starting to work on her again.

if you found that much corrosion on the 14 pin engine harness then it should be replaced before further testing is done.
That same advice will go with inspection of the engine harness for the injector system

That is an excellent looking wiring harness. IIRC, Sean's wiring harness uses all the correct color wires and connectors so installing should be pretty easy.

We are still looking to have you visit for a DFW breakfast.
Maybe now, we can get you to drive your car down!!

I hope so too! I'm crazy busy as of late due to my new job and having taken on a second job. Second job made buying this harness possible. I'm actually headed to California right now till late Wed but I'm hoping to get started on this harness install when I get back. I really can't wait to make it to a DFW breakfast, esp with my car! I'm still here and kicking, it's just slow going for me. I have my battery all charged up and ready for testing!

So I took a personal day yesterday and managed to get my wiring harness changed out. I'm a bit of a strong armed clutz and I broke a piece off my inner timing cover so I'll be looking for that part when the timing belt job comes up. Other than that I think it went well.

Again, this was a top notch replacement harness. Good work Sean.

Unfortunately I didn't make any progress other than that. I'm not 100% that I have everything connected correctly as I still cannot turn over the car with the key. The relay in slot VI clicks(window lifts), my antenna motor functions, and all the dash lights come on. Before I took my old harness out I could jump the starter at the 14 pin connector with the jump post and now I cannot. So I will be double checking all the connections as I have time in the next few days.

It's not much of an update but I'm slowly getting there.

Yeah, keep the posts coming!! My wife and I picked up a 1980 928 auto two years ago. Similarly, it sat for at least 5 years (that we know of) but is perfectly drive-able - the front shocks are pretty smooshy, but otherwise is absolutely road worthy.

I may start a thread such as this for the same reason...ideas and motivation!

Really interested in your progress...
