GTS progress
As you guys know, my GTS has been in some rather unscrupulous hands a few times. Anyway, here's where things stand.
The engine is out and down to a short block. Some very knowledgeable people are helping, including Greg Brown and Jim Morton (a thousand thanks to you).
What has been found:
chipped valve spring... the source of the magnetizable flakes I found.
Many large aluminium flakes in one of the lifters... no-one can explain the origin of these, as there is no visible damage and all oil passages appear clear.
Bent valves. This means the last installer didn't replace all bent valves. And hence the stumble.
Unlapped valve seats.
The build is going well. Leif Johnson is doing great work, and 928 Specialists have been helping with parts.

Hello Heinrich,
It is possible that the aluminium flakes are from a prevous failure? you have to know for sure.
Some places I would check are the oil pump, piston skirts/rist pins, and I am sure the crank and cam jurnals have been well inspected.
The trust bearing did not let the crank touch did it?
I am sure you guys have checked all these spots so I'm just talking out loud.
That is to bad about the poor prevous work. Nothing erks me more then shody work.
Wish you a inexpencive speedy repair.
Brad
