PWM dimmer for instrument backlighting after upgrading to LEDs

+1 Ed, nice work and thanks for keeping this community informed about this as you have been doing!
I'm interested in either a build-it-yourself kit or a completely assembled ready-to-install item, either way will be fine with me. Any rough idea on when, and where do I send my money too? :-)

OK, it looks like there's enough interest that I'll go ahead and come up with something. Give me a few days to settle on a slightly newer design and get more parts on hand and see what I can come up with.
I'll post updates here.

Ed, Thanks for all of the work you've done to figure out the LED conversion process, document it so thoroughly, and develop a dimmer along the way. Please count me in for a dimmer as well. I'm going to start ordering the LEDs and related stuff this week. Your excellent how-to PDF notwithstanding, I apologize in advance for all of the stupid questions I will send you as I tackle this upgrade.

Original rheostat... that was actually one of the main challenges, as it's not a very suitable resistance range.
The PWM dimmer module has five terminals... two go to the original rheostat, two go to the wires that originally went to the rheostat, and then one new wire to ground.
Noted.
I believe I have enough parts on hand (with the exception of enclosures and PC boards) for an initial batch of ten units. I'm in the process of switching to different PCB layout software, so you'll have to wait a little longer.
I haven't forgotten about this project... I just have very limited time to work on it.

In for two dimmers, if that's not too gluttonous....

Ed, I think your idea of writing up the pod switch conversion instructions before the center console is a good one (would be ideal to do pod switches at the same time as the instrument cluster). The dimmer install instructions are obviously not necessary until you have the units ready to ship. I ordered all of the LEDs today (took about 10 minutes, just followed your buyer's guide list); I think this will be a great Thanksgiving weekend upgrade project. I can't imagine how I could screw this up given how good your write-up is (but I will probably manage to do so somehow). Will keep you posted, and thanks again.

One other thought (mentioned to you before). A few months ago, I attended a GTG with other local owners hosted by Kitty and Gary Knox. While there, I met Glen McCartney. Gary had installed EL (electroluminescent) strips under his door sills to highlight the 928 mark. It looked great, and it went very well with some of the LED conversions he had already done to his interior lighting. It would be great to somehow add a link to this thread for people who might want to consider that upgrade as well. If I remember correctly, Glen told me that he purchased the strips from Roger @ 928sRUs.
I plan to give a Roger a call on these and add them to my lighting upgrade project...
