Default What chaged on the 92+ windshield wipers? Found a possible modern replacement

Continuing the discussion of a more modern wiper blade, I've been doing some research on other options.
I figure there has to be a better option than cutting down a VW arm.

It's not the VW arm that's more appealing (it's just a flat piece of metal like every other arm) it's the Bosch ICON blade. Which is not available for the 928.

I found the Valeo Ultimate blade that looks just like the Bosch ICON and per The Tire Rack fits the 92+ 928.

I figure this is either a database error or something changed with the 92 wiper arm.

If anyone with a 92+ and an earlier car would like to give them a try, they are buy 1 get 1 at The Tire Rack

I'm running the Bosch ICON and have for several years now. You're correct in that there is no part number for a 928 application. That said, all I did was find them in the appropriate length and put them on. I'll see if I can find the exact part numbers and edit this post later on.

EDIT: I'm pretty sure they're Bosch ICON 420B. They're 20" long, which is slightly longer than what was on the car previously (assuming those were the proper size), which gives just about the maximum coverage without rubbing any of the windshield trim. HTH

Well that was easy, where were you in the other thread?

Oh, I loosely followed the other thread, just didn't see where it was the ICONs you were primarily smitten with. Otherwise, I would have chimed in. I thought you were on a quest to find the ultimate low profile arm.

I've edited my prior post for what I believe to be the right part number - 420B

Those look good. Check Amazon.com before purchasing. Could be better price with shipping.

PET shows the same part numbers for later cars.

I upgraded mine to contour blades too. But I have never driven my car in the rain, so I went with smaller sizes than the stock 19". Here's what I currently have installed...

Fronts: 18" Bosch Icons, 418B
Rear: 16" Rain-X Latitude using an ANCO pin adapter.

HP, Just kidding on that. Just wondered why you jumped threads. Fumes, what fumes ? While a few red blood cells are still performing thier tasks, Consumer Reports rank the Bosch Icon wipers 8th in performance. Why not look at the # 1 independent wiper in the same series of tests, that are just as sleek, are half the cost and are half the cost of the Bosch icon? The Valeo 600 series as mentioned on the thread: "Front Windshield Delete Poll" T

Borland: If you never drive in the rain, why do you still have a REAR wiper?

77tony: If you never drive in the rain, why do you still have FRONT wipers?

Paul- if you never drive your 928, why do you still have it?

Andrew - If my restaurant business holds up this spring, and once you and/or Davek9 help me get it running properly again, my 928 will be finished inside and out and make you proud (and probably make me broke)

I was just the other day thinking that my 3+yo blades need renewing. I've been hunting down Bosch refills for the stock blades. Maybe time to put those in the original parts box and get with the current technology.

I don't think we ever quite figured out the difference between the Bosch ICON 420A and 420B.

Does anybody know for sure what's different?
