Got a little freaked out when the Christmas Tree lights (aka the timing belt lights) came on during my drive home from work yesterday. Installed new belt, etc. 27k miles ago. Retensioned after 2k miles, so it's been too long (25k miles) since the retension. Bad owner... BAD owner
Soooo, this morning I reset the belt tension. Tension was right at the low side of the window on the Kempf tool, reset it towards the high side of the window. I'm always surprised at how little you need to turn the adjusting bolt to increase the tension to the proper spec.

Reinstalled this "thing" pictured below, received back from the "speedometerrepairguy" David Ruberg, (from Winona, MN) and test drove it.
Gentlemen, after 19 years of driving my OB without cruise control and at least as many speeding tickets, I have a working cruise control. The best $80 investment I've ever made and David is the MAN. One day repair turn-around, lifetime warranty, how can you beat that !!! Forget about reflowing solder joints and changing components at random, not worth the trouble - just send it to David.
No, I am not affiliated with David in any way other than being a very happy customer.

I removed the entire exhaust system - from the (stock) cat to the back - to change the O2 sensor.
The sensor was VERY tight. Could not remove it without heat.
Brought the cat to my mecanic this morning and he did the job in about 10 minutes!
Now I need to put back everything together.
I changed the sensor as unpluging the old one cured my idle problem.

Got it looked at by Greg, who is going to fix all the stuff that I knew about, which is all minor. He didn't find anything else (that wasn't fixed in passing). A major relief.
Now for a nice concert (Pat Benatar and Rick Springfield)

Put it up on stands today to check thrust bearing which measured 0.24mm which is within spec and the same as measured 2 years ago. Have been having starting issues - it will idle from cold start for about 5 minutes then run rough and stall. It will start again but stalls almost immediately, running very rough. Started to clean all of the electrical connections with detox it and the grounds with a Dremel. Working from the back to the front.

Installed sway bars, clutch, and new hi-torque starter. Had the crake the tranny from the block to get the starter in since I have the pan spacer and there was NO WAY it was going to fit otherwise. Trying to remove the old clutch line to replace with the GB special clutch line, but it does NOT want to let go. Used the special mixture of tranny fluid and acetone as a release agent and it still does not want to loosen. Let it soak for a two days in the fomula and no joy came as a result. Anybody see any issues with putting heat to it especially so close to the rubber hose?

Not today, but just got back from a 2300 mile road trip with my son. He had some summer ice with the boys he'll be skating with this fall as we are relocating. Threw in a surprise visit to Mom and Sis who live 6 hours away from where we were.
Car ran great. Developed a high pitched squeal from under the manifold once we got to hockey, but had no effect on car's systems. Had a little fun with the lead Mustang (one of those new pretty ones) in a Mustang convoy somewhere in PA - he started and I finished it - he just simply had to learn from patriarch of the late model 928 line - I kind of felt bad for him in front of his tribe.

Replaced the brake master cylinder and booster a day ago. Just did the pedal adjustment and added some more speaker wire for my custom install as my wiring is gone.
Also had my dad run down to 928 international and pick up some parts, 993 brakes here I come

Finished tightening up a few hose clamps causing small coolant leaks. Just completed a huge amount of work- tb, wp, coolant res, ps lines, ceramic ft pads, harness repair, fluid changes. Drove her 250 miles up the California coast and blasted by some slow clowns, loving that kick down and see ya later sucka. Car is just running and handling better than ever. I am very satisfied with the job I did especially as it was my first timing belt job and I ran into problems and overcame.
I will recheck belt tension after 1000 miles.

Posted a thread about a high pitched squeal from under the manifold. It was a dead throttle body gasket.
Had to tap one of the existing M8 holes. When I had the top of not to long ago for to replace the ISV, my eyebrow was raised on this particular bolt. When I did the job today, this bolt wad held in by adhesive only. I tapped with a standard 3/8" for I felt a M10 would've been to large. All worked out in the end.
I also found that the fuel injector wires for cylinder 3 had both wires stripped under the insulation. Repaired in the usual quality fashion. Car now sounds like it should again.
Add: And placed new water seal gaskets and the ends of the valve heads. Everything else was as it should be.
