That would be freakin' awesome! It would, no doubt, go a bit faster than that Flathead.

Too bad you would have to change out the bodywork to make it fit. The Flathead is TINY.

That's OK I am going to have to change out the body to make me fit.

Whatever we do, we need to keep the 928 V8 off the redneck radar screen.

Its not, but the lake-piped flathead running on the street is.

Has been for 50+ years.

I still don't see how a Flathead V-8, lakes pipes or not, is to be considered a redneck sort of thing. Especially on a dry lakes racer. Cherry-bombs YES, lakes pipes on a Flathead NO.

Look at it this way, we have double over head cams, the flatty has double water pumps that are lubed by leakage and lubed well.

Me too.

The flathead is ground zero for hotrodding. Craigslist is hunted 24/7 for any bit and piece of one.

Then again, maybe my choice of words was stupid. Its the high-end, old-school hotrod guys (young and old) that love them.

I just don't want to be competing with the hot rod crowd for the next 10 years scrounging 928 engines, am hoping they don't figure out how great they are and give the old dusty 928 a wide berth when they stumble across it in a barn as they hunt other treasure

Look at the money involved in staying traditional:

I guess I'm a redneck. I think a tricked out flathead is one of the most beautiful engines ever made. Hotrods with small blocks are sacrilege.

Hey wait your saying as soon as I put the side pipes on the smoragasporsche I will be a redneck ? I would put a 928 motor in a ratrod if I could figure an easy way to hook it up to a regular transmission any ideas? i'm going with a rover V8 in a VW based ratrod I would way rather have a 928 mill. I'm already kicking around the idea of a 500 caddy in the 928 body.
