Replacing Window Guide Bushings?
I need to replace the nylon bushings that ride up and down on the window guide tubes. I'll change the felt pads while I'm at it.
Is this a difficult job? Any write-ups out there?
Thanks for any guidance!

take off the door panel then lower the window till you can see the guides ,
Put a few pieces of tape on the window to door frame to hold the window from falling.
remove the bolts, then remove the guide tube bolts make sure to take a picture before you remove the guides,
your felt pads may be OK but they can be refitted with fresh felt use weldwood brush on cement,
NOTE you may not be able to find really good felt. so a new set of felt guides may be in order.
refit the guides and tube.
Leave the guides just snug then carefully put the window up, leave a space of about 1/4 inch
center the window front to back and level with the top, use a wrench to snug the guide bolts another turn then raise the window,
if it goes up too much then adjust the up stop on the window regulator arm same for the lower position .
Test your work you may have to move the window top in or out a bit so it slides freely this is done on the lower guide.
Note dont super tighten the guide bolts as they will deform the sleeves in the guides and then make repositioning improbable.
Use loctite on all of the bolts you remove ,
also lubricate the window arm pivot do it from the top, drip it down to the pivot shaft after you remove the inner black trim strip, dont forget to install the trim strip you will also need this trim strip off to replace the felt guides

Looks right to me. WSM says (IIRC) to leave top bolts holding the tube to door frame loose enough to adjust, while you check glass travel is correct. The bottom of the tube should mount on a pin via a piece of rubber - check that this rubber is OK before reassembly, because if its bad and rattles later, you will have to redo it all.
Also, I ordered and paid for a LHS and RHS guide piece for mine, but when I went to install the LHS unit I found it was actually a RHS unit, with a LHS part number moulded in the nylon.....

I refurbished mine - for the felt, I cut up a dog toy and used that material. Works perfectly.

My felt was intact but the "D"-section rubber underneath it was noticeably flattened and so, I assume, would not compress and rebound as the window travels to keep constant pressure. It seems from what others have posted that maybe the felt/rubber things function mainly at the mid-point of the window's travel, so that if you adjusted them in this position, the condition of the "D"-section rubber part wouldn't be terribly important? FWIW, mine didn't seem to have much range of adjustment, they pressed firmly against the glass in the position that was required to get the mounting bolt through and into it's threaded hole.

....Old thread revival....
My actuator and guide tube feel like they are covered in tar, so going to remove all the old grease / gunk from both.
Once done, are there any recommendations on lubrication for each?

Thanks for the procedure.
Please add pic of felt pieces and/or more info on their location. My '78 has a felt pad about 8"x 4" towards the back of the window on the outer shell, but I don't think this is what you are talking about. It also has a thick cushion around a cable that runs back past the guide tube, also dont think that is what you are describing.
Thanks!
Found it. I have felt-lined boots I think can sacrifice a little felt!
