Sterlings sounds way different now that the leaks/rattles at the collectors are fixed. I'll see if I can get a recording of Jim M's car next time we are together and I"ll post it up.

I still wake up, some nights, terrified by the sound of Sterling's car.

I reinstalled the high-flow exhaust today and thought I'd compare its weight against the stock exhaust.

Stock = 105 lbs
High-flow = 55 lbs

This is x-pipe, cats, and everything else to tailpipe.

Designed and Developed by MotorSports SLC the builders of the X and Y pipe systems (not to be confused with 928motorsports).

They have done an excellent job of designing the system to fit a number of criteria not limited to just performance.
Mandrel bends for smoother flow and less back pressure.
Stainless Steel 304 inluding clamps and brackets.
Metric hardware so our toolkits feel at home.

The currently available options are as follows:
1. Either polished or brushed stainless tips, no cost difference for either.
2. Built for either the factory cat back system or the X pipe with or without catalytic converters, once again no additional cost. However we will need to know the details of your system to ensure the correct fitment.

The rear muffler is directional and will be quieter when fitted one way or slightly more sporting when fitted the other way. The difference is not a lot but should cater for the majority of customers requirements.

We fitted the first system this weekend and so far so good. Fitment was easy and everything went together quickly. The system is fitted to a 93 GTS 5 speed owned by Jim M. I know he will chime in with real comments as he lives with the new system during the coming week.

Limited on pictures at the moment but will add more as the week goes on.
I know we should have cleaned the oily finger prints off.

The system as far as the ***-ometer adds more ponies and we will do some dyno results to confirm the feel.

For our overseas customers the system will fit within current shipping regulation dimensions which is a big plus.

Price $1540 plus shipping.
Hi Rog, was thiss available when I was discussing my exhaust options and ordered your X-pipe and hi flow cats to mate up to my standard catback system? Your X-pipe and hi flow cast are very good and have certainly improved the performance and throttle response. The sound is deeper abd a little more noticeable however still some work to do here. That standard Porsche rear muffler is certainly good at its job - muffling! Does it make sense to say acquire your rear muffler to replace my standard one but leave the standard catback mid section in place (small resonatores and standard 2 1/4" pipe)????? Thoughts please. Happy for you to email me offline. You have my email details.

Cheers
Tony

What are the dimensions of the mid mufflers at the trans sides??? They look small enough that checking trans fluid would be much easier.

Mike Frye, I have found no one willing to throw down on an S3 system. Dave Lomas/ Garrity don't see a real return on the current system and the S3 crowd just isn't there. I think we are left with your local shop fabbing something. I've been waiting and calling but by spring I think I'll just go with local. Brian

I'm not following...the S4 system works fine on S2 ans S3 (speaking of market segment) up until the bumper cover, just need to add a mid mounting point and an 86.5 final muffler or RMB. But downpipe, cats/bypass and mids are all basically compatible.
True though, that the cost to buy the whole thing and then rework that final segment is not a strong inducement.

Overall, custom shops have proliferated and equipment has gotten better, so owners having shops do their own one-offs probably is a good way to go.

Hi Dean
The mid-mufflers are 6 1/2" wide, 14" long and 2 3/4" thick. I took a pic so you could see the clearance.

This is my second time putting this exhaust on. My lesson learned: The system is very maneuverable making it easy to adjust for clearance where you need it. I’ve found the best way is to first put on the X-pipe and then the rear muffler as they will be static. Then, add the dynamic/maneuverable pieces like the cats, pipes, mufflers, etc. Once every things on, adjust for clearance and then tighten the clamps—you’re done.
