Somebody will believe it...

Just like the story of the South African special edition GTE prototype, or that AMG (Mercedes tuner) made the 4-door 928s.

Because it's like a unicorn. Factory never made a convertable. Randy V had a vert IIRC, there are some good examples out there, but they are all aftermarket.

I am the owner...agreed a bit of a unicorn. You are correct, the car was created in conjunction with Carelli Design. Our understanding is that it was factory sanctioned but definitely not produced on the Porsche line. Carelli has claimed to me in the past that there were 8 made, in a query this month Wikipedia claims 12, not sure why they differ. This car is clearly stamped 008 on the vin plate. Details are tough to come by and so I refuse to share what might just be a few good stories that have come our way over the years. What I would like to know is how many of the 8-12 are still in existence. I will be following up with a lead in Salt Lake tomorrow who might be aware of one that was restored. I suppose like all things, it is worth what someone will pay for it, we are not aloof to that.

They did a 4 door 928 too... Basically reminded me of what a Panamera would have looked like in the 80's!

That article said it's an 86 but it's obviously an 87.

Neat cars... A bunch of other convertible 928's were built by all different builders. Some better and most worse. They are always going to be expensive to own if anything happens to any part of the top or tonneau.

Some day I will have a super wide body convertible.

Oh, I had a chance to buy the ASC 4 door S4 10 years ago for $25k. Should have as it sold a few years later at Barrett-Jackson for $41k (or something like that)...

I saw this car today and it is indeed one of the 8 Carelli's. 6400 actual miles and it's the real deal. It's kind of cool to have #7 and #8 in the same state, no-one seems to know the whereabouts of the other 6.

I know where theres another one or at least a clone of one. I never realized that the hard cover for the soft top was something unique until I red the Carreli website. The car I'm refering to is in FL.

Edit: OK, I just found out that Carreli sold a kit to do this. The car I'm talking about was built using a Carreli kit.
