That's a nice Harley, Charley!
Barry: What condition are those wheels in? Are they like new, scratched, or else? This is not the style I had in mind, so my interest is rather low at this point.

Anyone near Winnetka have an LH that I can use for testing purposes? Sourced an S4 that I'm considering, and it will fire over, then shut off right after it starts. Sounds like an LH to me... Fuel pump is already jumpered.

Run only in 'start' key position and then dies as soon as you let key return to 'run' position?
My 88 did that once. Perusing through 928 help section mentioned the 2 amps for the ignition.
The 2 round discs under black cover just behind the bumper in engine bay on driver's side.
Got some contact cleaner and cleaned up the connection and car was fine afterwards.
Not sure if that's any help. It's a lot cheaper than an LH . . .

Ernest, I've never come across that one before, great tip! And from what I understand, it fires, key is released, and dies very soon after, it didn't sound immediate. Hopefully I'll have more info today.
Nicole,
The wheels have some marks that look like they can come off fairly easily with a light rubbing compound, and I didnt notice any damage, although as soon as I saw the style, I didn't really care much... They are 8s and 10s though. Probably worth something to someone, but I doubt the $1000 he wants for them...

Think ISV is the only source of air when idle.
Wonder if it's fuel or air starved during cold start.

Hey Barry... Follow-up on the 928 with weber carbs in fountain valley. Against my better judgement I rented a truck and flatbed and drove from Tucson AZ to socal with the intention of buying the car, based on the owners description it was a cant miss opportunity. Got there and was shocked to see the condition of the car, it was very rough as you mentioned. (of course I see your post after the fact). At that point I had already invested to much to walk away. I bought the car for 2500 and towed it back to tucson this past sunday, Ive already gutted the interior and am in the process of removing all the accessories, cooling system, etc from the motor. The electrical system will be a challenge, non of the lights or gauges work now. Looks like you did good by walking away, especially for 5k.

Be real careful with the weber setup.....heat sink it and they can boil gasoline into the engine. Have a BIG fire exstinguisher handy and preferably NOT a dry chemical one.
