Wheel nut lock key missing
I just realized I don't have whatever is needed to unlock the wheels nuts on my car. Do I need to get something special or would an average tire shop have what is needed to remove the locked nuts? Or is the key stored in the car someplace??

Cutting hole saw...cut'em off... Actually I am just kidding. I have no idea. I have taken all mine off as I had one set that was ALWAYS getting stuck so I was like, "I am DONE with this!" Who is going to steal a damn POS 928 wheel anyway?!

If they are the stock locks with a small standard key they are super easy to rake pick. Wedge the outer cylinder in place with a folded piece of cardboard and rake the lock with two small screwdrivers. It only rotates maybe 45 degrees when it unlocks. Once you do one and get the hang of it the others take a few seconds.
You can also knock the lock center out with a punch, I am told, but I have not tried it.

As Jfrehm states they should be fairly easy to pick, but you do not actually need to rotate the cylinder to unlock them. The tumblers engage in grooves in the inside of the lug nut. with the tumblers in the correct position the cylinder just slides out. with the original key rotating the key after insertion only causes a tab near the head of the key to engage into the locking cover so when you pull on the key it extracts the lock. To pick one you will need to grasp the outside of the lock and pull lightly then rake the tumblers. Once the tumbles all line up the lock should start to pull off. the complication will come in that as the lock pulls off the tumblers will fall into the next set of grooves in the lug and you will need to do the process again. Each subsequent picking will move the next tumbler beyond the end of the lug till they come all the way off. I believe there are 4 tumblers per cylinder. A lock smith should be able to perform this for you and then make you key for future use if you want to retain the locks.
