Digital Temp Indicator "wanders"
I have a 1990 S4 with a wandering outside air temp indicator.
It was about 28 today and the digital readout in the pod read 28 +- a few degrees most of the time. At other times it read 0 thru 35 degrees.
A few weeks ago when it was 60 outside it was the same symptom but the range centered around 60.
Is there any "ah ha" fix? I would think the sensor is good as the center of the range moves with outside air temp...

first place to inspect and possibly repair are the connections at the OAS easy if you remove the headlight and then inspect the connector

The air temp display sensor is located in the driver side mirror, if I recall correctly.
I had the same problem as Daniel. Cleaning that sensor fixed the issue.

Allrighty, I messed with the probe on bottom of the driver's side rear view and the indicator bounced all over the place. I think you identified the problem. As soon as it warms up a bit I'll take it apart, clean it and reassemble.
Will post the results when done.
Thanks for the advice!

Removing the mirror assembly is easy - if you know what to do.
Do a search here - I had detailed it awhile ago.
You'll be removing just the flat piece of mirror glass, not the entire mirror housing.
