Default Auto transmission rebuild

I know this on old thread but not too old. I read that one way to strengthen the auto transmission, in my case the A28 in my '83, is to use AMG innards.
Could someone please tell me which parts and who sells them.
Thank You

Can't help you with that, but on the question of the OP, I was at a track event 10 days ago & there were two former MB factory trained techs there. They started talking to me about the auto tranny in my 928, how many of the MB counterparts they had worked on, & their respect for its durability. One was indicating their believe that some of the internals were different for Porsche in the 928 than for the tranny used in their MB cars. But the discussion didn't go to specifics, I assumed that MB was the maker of those parts for Porsche, not Porsche making them & supplying to MB to assemble.

Another confusion is that many parts made for Porsche by third parties used to be available to customers from the third party or Porsche.

Now it appears to be Porsche policy to stop direct third party to customer sales if the part was made specifically for Porsche. e.g. the 928 MAF.

So it is possible that whereas in the past it was possible to buy auto parts from MB, some of the special parts for Porsche may not now be available from MB.

Tangent a little.... Memory is that there has been mention that the 928 MAF is common to a couple BMW models. Fact or fiction, John?

Guys - excellent information. The list of Benz boxes was amazing...but I am a simple guy from the Australian bush...I was a little confused about what the columns mean?? I put it on a spread sheet

What does say 7.1 mean and 12.3 mean?

I tried to copy and past my spread sheet...but not sure how to do it.

Thanks
Dan

M535 E34 3.5 litre uses the same MAF as the 928. I don't know if it was ever fitted to the M635

The 3.8 M5 used a MAF with a 006 Bosch suffix which has long been n/a. I have just started rebuilding those.
