if it looks like the seals are leaking around the edges where the lense meets the reflector you can take some blue or green 3M masking tape and tape adjacent to the the seam then get some Honda bond and run a small bead around the seam . If you use fresh bond it will soak into the seam and set up, remove the tape in half an hour. This will seal the edges of the headlamps and you will not really be able to see the sealant

With the lamp full of water, soap/ Clr it had a slight leak I planned on sealing it. Previous posts seem to indicate the reflector is needed but not necessary, now that is not an option. I have one cleaned and it is now clear the other I'll try not to damage the reflector but it won't be easy. I think the leaking water caused this, it took me over an 1/2 hour to get the haze off with a Brillo.

How about an ultrasonic cleaner, running a heated mild dishwashing soap, followed by distilled water rinsing and finally a rinse in denatured alcohol??? That's what I'd suggest, if convenient...

That metal cup is not the reflector you were being warned about. The reflector that is so delicate is the silver film applied to the rear portion of the housing, inside. Once that's buggered, there is no repairing it. The metal cup is there to prevent oncoming drivers from seeing the filament and getting blinded. The silvered-end bulbs are not an adequate substitute. You should be able to get that cup out without damage if you're careful, and put it back when done.

Finally got them cleaned and back on.
I used this brush wire brush with a brillo type pad and denatured alcohol. The inside reflector broke off on one so I JB-Welded it and everything is looking good.

you should reseal the edges even if they are not leaking, they will.
There should also be a rubber cup on the harness connector( it plugs onto the rear side of the reflector assembly) to help seal the rear side of the headlamp, this prevents moisture from making the lights haze

You have to take the whole lens off. You can wash it out with fantastic or Simple Green or any detergent. Then blow it out to dry.
But to get it clear, you have to use something like laquer thinner and a piece of paper towl and rub it using a piece of coat hanger or screw driver. You have to rub it or it wont clear it up. Then blow it out or put it in the sun on concrete till it completely drys out.

While trying to clean out bulb fragments from an exploded bulb, I dislodged the shield.

(Enough water collected in there to splash on the bulb. )

Has anyone successfully put one back in place?

Note that the shield fits into two slots in the reflector just -inside- the opening, not on the opening frame itself.

I still need too clean the lens too.

OR, can I just delete the shield(s)?

Maybe, delete the shields, and install dual-position HIDs?
