Scott,
What was the lighting stuff you did to the dash/pod? It looks very nice...is that one of the LED conversions?

That engine work is nothing short of stunning!

Thanks for all of the compliments.

James,
I did install a Jager LED kit (blue), and also replaced the switch, HVAC and clock bulbs with LED's. The stereo came with the same blue/red lighting stock. One of my goals was to have my console and pod lighting "match". The LED's really make the dash "pop" and this is a simple upgrade.

Scott,

That lighting looks AWESOME! Next time I have a car apart (it will be my '84, unless something bad happens w/ one of the others... *knocking on wood now*) then I will have to see about doing that full changeover too. I LOVE IT!

Love that OB. Now I want to do the LED's too. How much time to do all of the LED's?

The LED's took about an afternoon. I used the Jager kit for the gauge lighting, which reguired some minor mods. The pod switches, AC head and clock were plug and play - I used #74 leds from Autolumination.

Chuck Schrieber has a good write-up somewhere here, try a search for some more detail.

Greg,

I must admit that I was lucky to have been a member of Rennlist when restoring the OB. I probably spent about 2 years slowly collecting interior parts while I focused on the mechanicals first. Most of the interior was provided by folks on this site.

If you look close you will notice that the seats are not '79 vintage. The seats were from a 1985 MY. I bought them from a fellow rennlister who had replaced them with Momo seats. Luck to find seats in such good condition that matched my interior just sitting around in someone's garage.

The dash, center console and glovebox skins were provided by Robb Budd, I had a local apholstry guy install whie I had the interior apart.

The leather pod and shifter were compliments of Champaigne.

I recovered the steering wheel, restored the interior panels and installed the carpet, led's, sterio etc. (the easy stuff.)

P.S. The wheel color idea came from you!

While this is not all my work and frankly it didn't take much work, here are the before Blue82 came out of storage and the after is Blue82 winning the full concours class at OCIC this past summer! YEA! I LOVE THIS CAR!

Oh, my Avatar is Blue82 just after OCIC posing with MRS. USA!!!! She was MRS. Texas and 1st runner up for the USA slot and guess what...the winner could not fulfill their requirements and term so SHE (my friend Kelly Burns) is MRS. USA! VERY NICE! Might have to get her to pose again for a 2011 calendar if I can sell the ones I have... I have them on ebay but that has been a bust so far.

Enjoy Blue82 my friends! It is an AWESOME CAR!

First of all, recovering the steering wheel is not easy! Certainly if it is your first time at it, I will confess I gave up.

Your car looks great Scott, that wheel colour makes the phone dials look real modern. That is also a great colour for your car, with the wheel colour and I don't know if I mentioned it but it looks great on some cars and ordinary on others. It looked so so on mine but great on the wife's.

Now that you mention it the wheel was an S.O.B. I recall watching the entire VH1 100 greatest rock bands while stiching. My fingers were sore for a week.

Very nice seat update. Is the seat cover a kit? Where can I get the cover? Thanks.
