Default The Official "Ask Your Novice 928 Questions Here" Thread.

.......aka - "I have something I feel kind of stupid asking, do it here" thread.

This might be a bad idea, I can think of at least five people who will call me out for this one, I don't care.

Here you go, do you have a question that is:
1. really simple?
2. novice?
3. basic to the point that once you see the answer you will smack your forhead?
4. might have been covered and you cannot find it doing a search?
5. off the wall but you feel like asking, like an itch you cannot reach?

***To anyone who thinks this is a stupid idea, or gets annoyed when people ask these types of questions........igore this thread. It's not that hard, don't click the link. Go visit the 1,000hp thread and see what Brett melted today.***

Have fun - ask away - we promise to be nice.

As Scott Adams once said:
"If there are no stupid questions, then what kind of questions do stupid people ask? Do they get smart just in time to ask questions? "

OK, I'll start. The answer will settle a discussion between John Cho (Tomcat) and I.
How does RDK measure tire pressure? Is it rolling radius of the tire, or internal tire pressure?

Why does it hurt when I pee?

Woops - wrong thread!

Seriously, should be a helpful topic based on some of the feedback we've seen here lately.

So speak up.

This thread should have been named in my honor.

Here is my question:

Why are there no beer can holders,.....oh uhhhh, 'CUP HOLDERS' in the 928?

Quickest, easiest answer is that both hands should be on the wheel at 150+ mph.

J.P:

That question doesn't meet Hacker's criteria. You are banned from further posts in this thread.

Instead you should have asked the first question I asked when I found the list: Where is the lug wrench supposed to be stowed? I just took it out of the car and I can't remember where it was.

That is the god's honest truth. I still manage to come up with some, ahem, basic questions like that.

RDK, what the hell is that!

I thought everyone de-activated those thing. I would love to find a new type band sensor that could work with the factory display in the dash. Is that possible? Better yet the actual porsche tire monitoring. I actually already have a pair of those on my rear wheels.

I bet it would be a nightmare to install, but arent the factory RDK sensors very troublesome, I cant use them with my current wheels, but is there anyway possible to get a new type sensor, in the wheel (like the factory porsche ones used in 997's) and maybe get it to work with the stock RDK display and monitoring system. Could you say find a way of intercepting the signal from the new porsche units and coming up with a way to interpret the code to work with the stock RDK computer? I know its probably a huge hassle and not sure how many people would even want this, but would someone that knows how to read code be able to convert this somehow? I'm sure its possible, most anything electrical with computers is POSSIBLE, i guess I want to know, could it be done and figured out in what 40 hours, and then adapted so other people could use it?

This is the perfect thread to post this insane question on. I would love to hear from Alan or maybe John Speake about this. They are the first names that come to my head when i think of 928 and electronics.

This has been discussed several times before. Do a search.

Its definitelly possible and I'll get on it eventually along with custom PSD chips if anyone else doesn't do these before.

[QUOTE=RyanPerrella;5203803]RDK, what the hell is that!

QUOTE]

It's that silver box with Bosch written on it (and other german stuff) with a disconnected multipin connector zip tied to something nearby with an obviously not original piece of wire linking pins 2 and 13 ? . It's so common on 928s that you could believe the factory actually built them that way . In fact they did after about 1993.

NB all specific facts (like the pin No.s to switch off the RDK) in this post are the subject of an a Shiraz befuddled brain .

Didn't RDK make cassette tapes once like before ipods or something ?
