Otherwise the posts I'm thinking of are 100% speculation.

Keep in mind if you find youself doing a pan gasket, that is the time to swap out the manifolds.

Paul, ABS only begins to work after seven years of ownership. Hang in there.

OK, this so much a "noob" question but more of a question for the paint pro's.

What is the difference between,

Indischrot - Indian Red#
027 - 1978-1981 & 1984,1986
80K - 1991-1995

and

Guards Red#
027 - 1982-1983 1985
80K - 1987-1990

The reason I ask is my '88 is clearly marked as:

Indischrot 80K 9 2
G1

Someone must have an answer and I am not looking for:

Its definitelly possible and I'll get on it eventually along with custom PSD chips if anyone else doesn't do these before.
PLEASE KEEP ME UPDATED ON THIS!

The porsche OE sensors are really cheap, i was going to try and resell them and figured i could get $50 or something for them but brand new they are like $24 or something stupid!

How far along on this are you? I would love to assist in anyway possible. I think this would be great, I love the ability to check tire pressure from the dash, i just dont want to run 1 of 2 wheel's made for it and deal with the issues of the OE RDK setup and its flaws. (Having to put in more psi then needed to defeat warning messages, i think thats why all these things have been deactivated over the years.)

Oh and yes when i first saw the jumper under my dash i thought it was some factory thing. Its a nice orange jumper.

PSD chips? what would you do with those, possibly allow the PSD to work and function above the factory limited 20-25mph or whatever it is? That would make a very nice system and finally get those 89GT guys to realize that in fact the 90-91's are BETTER! HE HE

Not very far but it doesn't seem too complicated setup to do. Certainly much more simple than SharkTuner.

Simple aim is to make custom chips for PSD. Most important parameter to change is lift speed in which system turns itself off at straight line acceleration. Other related task is to make either easily adjustable or programmable standalone logics system that can run PSD diff without '90+ MY ABS box and accelerometer. Basically we want to install PSD into earlier 928 and make it work only in acceleration mode up to say 60 mph. Current thinking is that simple programmable logic could do this without involving entire setup way factory did it.

Before these two there are several other things that need to be done like puting stroker engine together, helping build friends SC GT engine, 6sp manual gearbox etc. In few years...

If I have a set of headers that have a couple of dents (speed bumps or the like I presume) would it still make sense to use them over the stock manifolds?

The SS manifolds are lighter and flow better than stock 16V cast iron manifolds. But, cast iron manifolds with some outlet porting (51mm->55mm), flow just as well, or better, IMHO, can be upgraded on the car, and don't require a spacer. This is assuming you put 2" down pipes on either, to match.

On the flip side, removing SS manifolds and installing headers (usually) results in a reduction in horsepower.

according to Porsche there is no difference, in real life there's a whole world of difference
I spoke at length to a master painter who has painted hundreds of Pcars over the years, he said in any given year there are up to 4 SHADES of Guards Red, ranging from an almost orange to near fire engine colored shade
so I guess the answer is.... there is no clear cut answer
sorry
