The 911 cup car...." This engine is within spec for running at the Daytona 24 hours race. Porsche does not advise racing an engine that was rebuilt more than once, or with over 100 TOTAL hours of running time, including all rebuilds at Daytona.
Engine has about 8 hours on it, usually short shifting except in qualifying and sprint races. Porsche motorsports rebuild with all new parts (pistons, cylinders, etc, about $20K, receipt available). " ...........which calculates out at $200 per hour just for engine wear IF nothing breaks Some engines have lasted for a bit over 200 hours . Maybe 20,000 miles of track use but that is the exception.

That is a smokin' 928 Racer. Quick, someone pick it up before Falkenberg adds it to his harem.

you have to move to nor cal and run SCCA.

Sears Point Raceway (INfinion) 75miles away. 3 gals of gas. $12 x two ways , $25 per weekend.
room at the Marin Inn $75, split with scot, $37 each
entry fees for the race $275 we get two races sometimes too.
Tires, last 3 weekends, and they cost $100 a set used from toyo. You can do this too for a little more on line with ebay. (so, $25 a weekend for tires)
Scca membership and race license, $140 year, thats $15 per weekend.,

We do this 8 times a year, with 11 full points races.

Thats a total of $375 tops, per weekend of racing. with overnight lodging as well. subtract that when we sleep in the tents.

At laguna the only increase is in the entry fees, of about $50 more

Thats how you do it if you are not a paid pro!

Nothing can break, its a 928!!!!!
91 race days over 6 years and 6 full racing seasons, no DNF's! mostly top 2 and 3 finishes, and up to 70 car fields, 24 in class at the most.

I dont think you can have this much fun doing anything else for as cheap!

I just got back from a trip at whistler BC. $300 flight, $210 lodging 3 nights, $250 lift tickets, overpriced food, $50 rental car share, $20 gas, etc. something like $1000 when its all said and done. It was fun, but no where near as fun as a race weekend. That was 1/4 of my total years racing budget!

No mention of mods to the lump like a drilled crank or accusump.... lots of money spent for a 2/6 failure pending...
